Subject: BS: cool research sailing ship coming to NYC From: Desert Dancer Date: 02 Feb 12 - 11:16 AM Tara is coming to New York City for a week, starting February 5. Tara is in her third year of sailing around the world's oceans to sample plankton (from the visible macro-organisms down to the nano-sized viruses). The expedition originates in France - and is in its final leg, heading back - but is an international research collaboration. During her visit, Tara will be docking at Battery Park, North Cove Marina. Planned events include school visits, lectures and a reception at the French Consulate. If you're into that stuff, it's a friendly crew -- stop by and say 'hello'. (or 'bon jour!') ~ Becky in Tucson working with a University of Arizona marine microbiology lab |
