From: Nigel Parsons

Another year, another quiz. This one also has a theme. Take note:
No answer starts with the same letter.
No answer ends with the same letter.
All answers start and end with the same letter!
Clear?

As usual; PLEASE DO NOT POST ANSWERS IN THE THREAD.

1.        What is the aboriginal name for Ayers Rock in Australia?
2.        What is the capital of Ethiopia?
3.        Which tv detective had the catchphrase "Who loves ya? Baby"
4.        What tradename is used in US as the generic term for a photocopy?
5.        Which river (mostly in Venezuela) shares its name with a 'Womble'?
6.        What is the title of (probably) Schubert's best known quintet?
7.        What name is given to the part of a garment that is turned back; specifically : the fold of the front of a coat that is usually a continuation of the collar?
8.        What word describes a device for raising water, or a plimsoll?
9.        What word (often used biblically) means to separate the grain from the chaff using a current of air (often by fanning)?
10.        What disease (affecting about 1% of UK population) is, effectively, an intolerance to gluten?
11.        In the Asterix books, who, or what, was Getafix?
12.        What word describes a fastening using the middle of a rope, or a temporary problem?
13.        What is another name for the herb oregano? (yes, I know Oregano could also be an answer in this theme)
14.        What name was given to a forced labour camp in USSR?
15.        What word describes a mammary gland, or a mistake?
16.        Which musical instrument shares its name with a judge having criminal jurisdiction in a city? (Possibly UK only)
17.        From "It ain't half hot mum", who sang with Windsor Davies on the hit "Whispering Grass"?
18.        What 13 letter word (with only 5 different letters) means 'insomnia'?
19.        What part of speech is a 'naming word'?
20.        Traditionally, with what did Adam cover his nakedness?

Struggling with four of them. Hmm ... is the last one G-string? Oh no, that letter's already gone

Super quiz, Nigel, thank you very much. Have got the answers (I think!) and have printed it off, as it's Ladies' Friendly Hour this afternoon, they'll love it!

At least Bainbo has noticed that I said none of the answers start with the same letter.

Maybe I'll include G-String next time.
"Guitar part used as minimalist clothing?"

Well, what do you know! Just turned on BBC Radio 4, and there's a discussion about the one answer I didn't get.

after making an error, one feels a tit?
Only if one is lucky!

Anyway, the question related to the error, not to ones feelings after making an error.

Anyhow, as Bainbo would point out, the initial 'T' has been used elsewhere!

Cheers

Nigel

And after consulting google 15 and a
that's what I meant (1)
well it could have been right, but it looked odd without an s and I need that letter now, the other answer is better (7)
oh, is that what you call it (13)
yes, so it is (16)
and a
I knew I didn't know (17)

75% aint bad.

Without googling, I've come across 1, I know, but can't bring it to mind; I ought to be able to recall 6, 10, 12, and 16, and if I took more than 3 minutes to think about it, I'd get some of them. I'm not unhappy with 75% for 2 quick passes through...

Nice quiz, as always, Nigel!

Traditionally, with what did Adam cover his nakedness?

Would that be Eve?

Noreen also storms in with 20/20, despite some uncertainty about Oregano (different sites give different opinions on this one)

Bev & Jerry
Nice try, but you couldn't get 20/20 with that as I did state that all answers start with different letters, & 'E' is used elsewhere.

Cheers
Nigel

Anyhow, surely 'Eve' would not do, would it? ~ unless they were failing to use the Missionary Position ordained of God.

Maybe that was why Paradise was Lost, & not that bloody apple after all...

OTOH, they were in Paradise ~~ or anyhow The Garden Of Eden. Milton & Donne thought they [& Calvary? ~ see Donne's "Hymn to God in my Sickness"] were the same place;

but let us not get bogged down with theology on this thread ~~ Yng Earth Crtnsm has already got incomprehensible enough for human beings!...
