Nah, LH, I haven't but I'll Google it up and read the condensed version... I don't do "whole books" because of lexdexia... But I'm purdy good at finding the meat 'n taters of a book with all the cheaty things that laxdexics have learned to overcome...

I mean, I got 2 college degrees and can't say I bought but about half the text books...

Okay, I just read the condensed version and, yeah, many of us were saying the same things after 9/11 and after the invasion of Iraq... I mean, follow the $$$ trail and you'll easily see that the ______________/industrialists are busy with game plans for just about any kind of disaster... Too bad they aren't in it for humanitarian reasons...

Yeah, we all saw the rigged Halliburton deal and I remember calling as it was happening... But our buddy, Teribus, who is part of some _____________/industrialist's interest came to Halliburton's defense saying that Halliburton was the only corporation that had the expertise to do what they did in Iraq and therefore deserved the no-bid contracts... When I pointed out that they were contracted to build schools and drive trucks he decided that, rather than defend what they did, call me a bunch of names...

BTW, a lot of conspiracies are just that...

I am still asking for the answer to a question: WHO CONTROLS FEMA?DHS?ICS?

Have any Americans called their senators or congressmen/women to find out?

If so, what did you get told? Are all the answers the same?

Well, brucie, FEMA is part of DHS these days... Lost it's independence in 2003... So if you look strictly at an organizational chart DHS's Secretary Janet Napolitano answers to the President...

Reality is that much of the way every government department or agency is run is by the folks who are hired to do the thousands of things that are supposed to be done... That's where the rub comes into play, be it the DHS of DoD or DoT, or, or...

Congress makes the rules and sets/approves the budgets... What we have here, however, are lobbyists who are writing rules behind the scenes that favor their clients and in writing those rules can write them in a manner that all but guarantees that $$$ will flow to those clients...

I mean, this is where we are getting fleeced...

Here's an idea: appoint every congressman by lottery, just like jury duty... Takes all the old ballgames and runs them thru a shredder... I'd guarantee that K St. would be out of business instantly...

I doubt if this answers your question, brucie, because I feel as if you have some other bone to pick with DHS and that's okay... I'm not in love with DHS myself...

It's a book I wish everyone in North America...hell, in the world...would read, Bobert. I realize your dyslexia would make it a chore for you to wade through it, but boy is it ever a stunning and horrifying look at what's been going on in the world since the end of WWII...starting with CIA-financed shock treatments on medical patients at McGill University in Canada...moving then to the CIA-backed coup in Iran that brought down a democracy shortly after WWII and replaced it with the Shah's brutal police state...moving from there to several CIA-backed coups that replaced several key democracies in Latin America with police states which "disappeared" tens of thousands of people and tortured hundreds of thousands. In all these emerging democracies the coups had the effect of basically wiping out the middle class, exterminating anyone with a "leftist" mindset, enriching a tiny corporate and governing elite, and impoverishing the rest of the public....all in the name of "freedom"! It was the antithesis of freedom.

And it moves on from there to the present day. Naomi Klein is a Canadian author. She investigated very thoroughly before writing. Her book is one of the scariest things you'll ever read. If it had happened here, Bobert, like it already did in Iran, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, and other unfortunate places, you and I would already be dead, because we're liberal-minded musicians with somewhat "leftist" views and progressive opinions about society. So far it hasn't happened here. Let's hope to hell it doesn't.

I don't mind $9 jeans and $4 t-shirts. I'd rather have Yankee made Levi's but I ain't payin 4+ times the price at Walmart. I draw the at twice the price depending on quality.

In any case, that has nothing to do with the jury duty system in the US. Walmart does, however, have something to do with the electoral process... have you seen the emails? Those people (don't) vote?

Well, Gn-ze, yeah, we would get some Mart-Mart folks but we'd get a corss section of the American people.... That's why it would be as close to a 'representative" government as possible... It's no joke... Iy would be 100% better than what we have today...

As for the book, LH??? I have a purdy good grasp on what has and continues to go down... I mean, reading this book isn't going to be like a light bulb flashing on in my head... I've been paying attention... I mean, there is a lot of very messed up things going on hundreds of books with authors exposing their own favorites... I've got several that I have waded into, got the drift and put on the shelf...

It's not that this crap doesn't happen... It does... It's just that there is so much bad stuff that at some point you just go, "Okay, ebough... I get it... I've already got Exhibits A thru R... Will having Exhibits S thru Z change my basic understand of what is going down??? Probably not..."

I get this ladies book from the condensed version... More Exhibit S thru Z... We covered a lot of this first hand here at Mudburg as it was occuring... Kinda "mis-fortunte capitalism"... Remember the old line "16 men on a dead man's chest"??? Mis-fortube capitalism" based on bad stuff + fear...

Nothing new here...

Please - EVERYONE...go read Shock Doctrine. Naomi Klein is brilliant (and hot...crap did I say that out loud?)

Then go read Armed Madhouse by Greg Palast (also hot....crap!!!!)

And read everything you csn find by Malcolm Gladwell...not political, but he GETS the world.

Also read Taran Wanderer by Lloyd Alexander if you want to know how the males of the species should behave.

I've read Palist's "Best Democracy Money Can Buy" about the rigging/theft of the 2000 election...

I've also read most of Alan Dershowitz's "Supreme Injustice" about the rigging/theft of the 2000 elction...

As for how the males of the species should behave I'd suggest reading the New Testament and stay the heck out of the Old Testament other than Exodus and Psalms...

I'd certainly agree with that, Bobertz. I think Jesus was on the right track, but I would not want to deal with those Old Testament patriarchs.

(the Song of Solomon is nice, though)

I think Bush stole both of the elections he supposedly "won".

Yeah. (chuckle) Upsetting, isn't it? Just shocking, these allegations.

The funny thing is, I strongly suspect that John Kennedy stole the 1960 election too...with help from the Daly Democratic machine in Chicago doing a bunch of vote laundering for him. Be that as it may, I was very glad that he won! I sure as hell didn't want Richard Nixon in the presidency.

But...Nixon may have been robbed. Both the Democrats and Republicans are not above falsifying voting tallies...IF they can find a way of doing it...and that depends on their respective network of friends, contacts, partners, and people beholden to them in various levels of business and government. They WILL always cheat if they can find a way of doing so and presumably getting away with it. That's been happening ever since the beginning of politics in the USA. A look into the long and seamy history of New York politics, for instance, will provide much info about gross levels of electoral fraud that was arranged by the rich and powerful to line their own pockets with gold and political power. New York...Chicago...Los Angeles...Washington...it's an old story. Money buys election results.

Ya'll notice how Bush has just kinda gone back in the hole he came out of back in 2000???

I mean, of all past presidents it seems as if he is the most reclusive one in my life time... Wish he'd chosen recluse as a carer back in 2000... Woulda saved a lot of lives...

He came up to Canada to speak not too long ago, Bobert. Various people loudly protested outside the doors. One Native Canadian man tried to arrest Mr Bush for war crimes, and our police arrested him instead. Typical cop behaviour when the humble peasants get uppity enough to actually take some kind of overt action against the ruling elite.

Could you type out that first sentence again, Bobert? Something is missing from it, and I cannot decypher what it was that you meant to say.

There are a few people up here who do want to hear what George Bush has to say. They comprise about 1% of the Canadian population...and they are in the highest income bracket. They probably know our prime minister personally. Need I say more? ;-D The tickets were expensive to attend...but that's how people in that crowd impress each other, and it's just chicken feed to them to spend, say, $500 bucks listening to an ex-president blather on for an hour or so.

Okay, enough cleverness shit.
Bush should be arrested for the invasion of Iraq, and torture at black sites, etc.
Obama should be arrested for drone killings along the Afghan/Paki border, etc.
Who will do it?
I already have a DHS file a mile thick, and girls I need to get through college, so I do my job.
At some point the calculus may dictate crazy shit.
Right now, I write my congresspeople, go to demonstrations, write letters to the editor, etc.
At some point, I will go to the physical (not just electoral) barricades, but my Mennonite heritage and Quaker schooling will govern my behaviour on the barricade (so long TIA...?) And according to the survival rates for the cancer shit, and war zone shit I have dealt with, I am supposed to be dead already anyhow.
But I consciously, and with full awareness choose this course.
Baxk to LH's opening premise...yes I have read Shock Doctrine, and I see it at play right now. I (you, we, all) are about to make a choice about the future of the human race.
Honesty is preferred over loyalty at times like these (IMHO).

The people at the very top of the Canadian government, meaning our prime minister, Stephen Harper, and his conservative cronies are hand in glove with the same corporate forces that are privatizing public institutions, waging illegal foreign wars, sending jobs to China, and destroying the financial base of the middle class. They should be arrested too.

As you say, TIA, the Shock Doctrine is at play right now, we're in the thick of it, and the time of decision draws near...for everyone.

What really worries me is what rabbit will be pulled out of the hat next to apply the Shock Doctrine forcefully across North America....maybe kind of like it was applied in Chile on September 11th, 1973. Note that date. Interesting.
