I accept your point 999, but the evidence against him convinced a jury, that I accept.

He has become the object of leftist adoration because he is an American Indian activist who was convicted of the execution-style murders of FBI Special Agents Jack Coler and Ronald Williams.


Peltier has some dubious supporters, in the form of the black hate-preacher, Jeremiah Wright, who was for many years Obama's spiritual adviser, until the media exposed him as an anti-American hate-merchant.


In 2009, Thomas J. Harrington, FBI Executive Assistant Director in the Criminal, Cyber, Response, and Services Branch, testified in opposition to parole for Peltier, saying, "The intentional and vicious attack by Mr. Peltier was not simply a blatant attack on two FBI special agents; it was an attack on law enforcement as a whole—an attack on the rule of law. The inevitable haziness brought on by the passage of time does not diminish the brutality of the crimes or the lifelong torment to the surviving families. Those surviving families extend beyond the Coler and Williams' to the entire FBI family. Moderation or lenience in terms of Mr. Peltier's sentence can only signal disregard and disrespect to the law enforcement community as a whole, and to the families of Special Agents Coler and Williams."

By the way, is this Lizzie is back ? I thought she left.

If he was innocent, he would be free. He murdered several people, so behind bars he will remain. Something reassuring about that. Do not delude yourself that calls from a 92 year man in his dotage will make a difference.

I can't wait to see the movie. It has been so long, this fight for his freedom. The time is now and I am glad to see so many others agree.

Morris Dees, of the Southern Poverty Law Center, suggested years ago that we use American of (whatever) descent, i.e. American of African descent, etc. He likes putting the emphasis on our commonality.

It goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) that I am glad to see Pete supporting this cause. What I also like is that he refers to himself as a European-American. That is a term I often use to describe myself but rarely hear others use.
