In my view, "Phases and Stages" was Willie's greatest album and certainly one of the best "concept" albums ever written. "I Still Can't Believe You're Gone" and "It's Not Supposed to Be That Way" are two of the best songs Willie has written. Both are powerfully evocative...

Oh, yeah; have had a couple of chances to catch the man live. To me, you get no musical showing off with Willie, just those stories in song that you totally believe. Either he believes them all when he sings them, or he fakes it so damn good that it doesn't matter :). A friend here has an adult son with Downs. Willie spotted him as he walked past, invited him in the bus and sat talking with him like any friend for a while. Between the father and the son, I don't know which one loves Willy more now.

Willie Nelson fans?   Are they any good?   A few years ago we had a thread about Gordon Bok fans and the damn things weren't worth a plug nickel, although I have no definitive value of a plug nickel. The damn Bok fans were really cheap and not approved by anyone as to their safety. One lady had a blade come off and it whirled across the room and killed her favorite African Violet.

Here's a great writer and musician accompaying Wille on a song he said he had always wanted Willie to sing......Some great shit here!

Liked Willie when he wore shiny suits and narrow ties and just as much today. He wrote some great songs and could sing other folks songs with distinctiveness and style as well. "Always on Your Mind" had been around a decade and was even recorded by Elvis Presley without much notice until Willie made it a country standard. I would place him among the greatest singers of all time as well as one of the greatest writers of all time. Adrian, thanks for the post and the reminder of the early years.

I certainly know there are many and I apologize if someone has posted this You Tube video before. Much has been written about Mr. Nelson and it would have taken a long time to confirm if this video was posted. Hope you enjoy it as I have.
