Everyone makes $7.25 an hour except them... They make $100, $200, $500 and hour...

On that $7.25 an hour the TeaFoxLicans want to lecture you to accept "personal responsibility" and pay for the following:

Rent

Transportation

Health care

Retirement

College for your kids

Food

Shelter

etc., etc.....

And they want you do this with out any assistance what so ever from the government...

Their moto: "Pick rich parents next time, losers"...

Ayn Rands rocks, right???

B~

$5 for a pound of bacon or hot dogs... literally the worst crap you could eat. $5? $7.25 an hour? War is imminent.

Bacon? Now I am drooling as I tell my wife to make her out-of-this-world bacon, tomato and cheddar cheese toasted sandwiches for dinner tonight.

Minimum hourly wages in Canada range from $9.00 (Sask.) to $11.00 (Nunavut).

Journeymen carpenters in Alberta receive $28.46 minimum and apprentices 60% of that. Trade helpers and labourers at the bottom with $19.10 per hour minimum.

Q, $11.00/hr in Nunavut--I lived two years in the NWT prior to it being two territories--is like $5.00 down south. Just as a btw, not a criticism.

Yeah, unless you get a deal on housing, transportation, the NWT can leave you in the hole.
Of course I know of no workmen going there unless the contract is good.

Q, back in the late 1990s, food prices were (and I suspect still are) outrageous. No kidding, tomatoes went at $1.00 each as did bananas, apples and oranges. No new produce was put out until every bit of the old stock was purchased.

Housing: we paid $1400/month for a living room, three small bedrooms--think trailer-sized bedrooms, a kitchen and a small bathroom. Water was trucked in and sewage trucked out. Electricity averaged about $350/month over the course of a year.

Getting from the settlement I was in to Norman Wells was damned near as expensive as getting from Norman Wells to Yellowknife. Of course, during the 'night without end' everything was more expensive. Oddly, a two liter thing of milk was cheaper in winter because it could be trucked in when the winter road was open. Still, then milk sold at about $3.00 a litre. In summer months it went for $4.50 a liter.

I made about $75,000/year. Was unable to save any money other than what accrued to my pension. And remember, that was back in the late 1990s. The NWT government gave with one hand and took it back with the other. C'est la vie I suppose. I always felt it was a wasted two years. Retrospect, not sour grapes.

Here are two very scary stats that have come out in the last year:

First, using the federal poverty threshold of $22,400 a year for a family of 4, 1/2 of all American families live at 125% of poverty OR LESS!!! (Reported september, 2011, "Charlotte Obaserver")

Second, 63% of all Americans could not come up with $1000 if they had to... (NBC nightly news)...

Me thinks that the TeaFoxLicans would be quite happy with a country that looked more like Somalia...

BTW, the slide in working class wages charts month-by-month with the union busting that Ronald Reagan started back in 1982 when he used the full force of the the federal government to bust the Air Traffic Controllers Union and let it be known to Boss Hog's everywhere that it was open season on unions...
