Subject: BS: Nwefoundland chickens (food monopolies) From: gnu Date: 26 May 12 - 02:26 PM Moncton, New Brunswick and Berwick, Nova Scotia Canada have meat packing plants but not for long. Maple Leaf bought both and they will be shut down. Chickens from NB, NS and PEI are now trucked to Quebec, processed and trucked back here for sale. The prices have skyrockted for profiteering by a HUGE corporation. The same will happen to all other meat and meat products in Maritime Canada save for the local butchers' shops and you know Maple Leaf will try to force them out of business too. So, me zon, I buys me Newfie chickens what's sold at the local Farmers' Coop and them Uppity Canadians* can go fuck themselves. Maple Leaf can't even make a decent hot dog and they want $5 a pound for them... $5 a pound fer hot dogs???!!! WTF? * Upper Canada = Ontario & Quebec |

Subject: RE: BS: Newfoundland chickens (food monopolies) From: GUEST,999 Date: 26 May 12 - 04:22 PM I'm hoping we see an NDP government next election. Right now we are paying $5.00 each for fresh 2 1/2 lb chickens. We're feeling the price crunch here, too. IMO, the two parts of Upper Canada are in Ottawa and on Bay Street. Right now, our food prices are outrageous, and people plant their own where possible. I suppose the bastards will find some way to tax that. As with many, I'm tired of seeing US potatoes, carrots, onions being sold in our stores. And I laugh when I see Mexican tomatoes being sold. We grow the damned things in Canada. |
