Whoops!That's Lewes Saturday Folk Club on Saturday 16th. June.

One of the best voices in Scotland together with a superb guitarist produce a sound rooted in the tradition of Scotland but not confined by it. They have been described as "a must for any fan of Scottish song". On hearing Mick's performance on his recent cd , U.S. magazine Sing Out stated "why is this man not a household name..?" Frank McLaughlin provides a perfect backdrop to Mick's voice, exploring the world of Scot's song with creative and expertly delivered arrangements on guitar.

Mick & Frank will give us two forty-five minute sets and the rest of the evening is filled by members of the audience doing a song or tune if they wish. Entrance is £8 and everyone is welcome, especially if you'd like to sing or play. We mostly sing and play traditional music from the British Isles, but we enjoy other styles as well. We always start off with some English dance tunes for anyone with an instrument to join in.

We now have a loyalty card. Six visits earn you £5 off an evening when admission is £5 or more.

When Mick did an all-day workshop on Scottish song for us four years ago, Alan & Carol Prior attended. I think that says a lot.

Peter Kennedy's 'Boscastle Bow-Wow' recording was organised by Mick, who was living in Boscastle, Cornwall, in 1975. It features the local Cornish source singers Charlie Jose and Evan Trick and others.

Mick was a fine singer even then, when from the look of him he must have been about 16.

As well as their evening performance at Lewes Saturday Folk Club, Mick and Frank are doing a short in-house show at the Union Music Store, Landsdowne Place, Lewes from 3.00 - 3.30 p.m. This is free with a collection and an opportunity to buy their CDs.
