Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Pierre Le Chapeau Date: 02 Sep 12 - 02:20 AM The ten day forecast from today Sunday 2 September shows what looks like a lovely warm sunny Knockers fest, I am really hoping it will bring folk to the field. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Richard Bridge Date: 04 Sep 12 - 03:37 PM Reefer-ish. I hope the chain oil for my chainsaw arrives in time too. I MAY be able to get up on Wednesday. Is feast Thursday? If the marquee parts don't arrive until Friday, who has big enough awning or shall we simply dine al fresco? Sadly, the lovely lady some of you met with me in Bobbing cannot make Knockholt which is only just round the corner from her home. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: GUEST,Abdul on iPhone Date: 04 Sep 12 - 03:59 PM Not sure we can get there for Thursday. Will try and get me work done by then. Al |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: VirginiaTam Date: 05 Sep 12 - 05:16 PM CS is a yes and we have Yvie and Mike from Southend joining us as well. Maybe some of their friends too. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Richard Bridge Date: 06 Sep 12 - 04:24 AM Definitely going today - come hell or high water. Got sabotaged yesterday. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: GUEST,CS Date: 06 Sep 12 - 08:33 AM Thanks to Tam for prodding me from out my cave :) I'll ask me ould fella if he wants to join us too. Sadly his mate Sid/Sidley (Simon) who joined us at Pigsear a couple of times (big nose, long skinny body, boozer, prone to loud profanities, dark greying shoulder length hair) died a few days ago (alcohol related) or I'd have asked him along too. He was a hell of a funny bloke if you got him singing. We'll miss him. Have handtorch, now I've got to find my stash of lyrics.. Do hope Joy is coming. Anyone know? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Abdul The Bul Bul Date: 06 Sep 12 - 11:19 AM I think it may work out for Gloria Pipes and me to get there sometime this eve. If not, see you Friday. Al |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: GUEST,CS Date: 09 Sep 12 - 09:25 AM Fresh.. Thanks to everyone for lovely couple of days. Now for a badly needed bath, I smell like a kipper. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Richard Bridge Date: 09 Sep 12 - 12:43 PM Gorgeous weather, smashing company (for the most part), great music, gallons of Pimms, excellent feast on the Saturday. Hats off to Sue and Mick, and Pat and Debs for the organising. We got nowhere near to burning all the wood so we have a head start on the wood for next June (date not fixed yet). Costs covered with some to spare so the farmer will get a benefit bung to keep him sweet, and depending on how many turn up in June cost per head may be capable of being lowered. Dave and little Dan thoroughly enjoyed themselves and are asking about other folk things. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: GUEST,Wooden Z Date: 10 Sep 12 - 01:08 AM Yes it was the best Knockout for at least 10 years well done to you as well Richard for your part in organising. There were lots of great people in a field with musical instruments,a fantastic pub down the road and the best weather I've EVER seen at the September Knockout .., Roll on June ... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Lady Raffles Date: 11 Sep 12 - 08:25 AM We also had a brilliant Knockholt, it was great spending time with everyone and the weather couldn't have been better. Lovely to see the young ones enjoying themselves too, let's hope they come again. Nick contacted us and asked if anyone has mistakenly taken home his green folding chair the make is GELERT. When Mick went back to the field yesterday to clear up it wasn't there so maybe everyone could just have a check. We have asked the Farmer for Wednesday 19th June - Sunday 23rd for next years camp and he's agreed those dates so only nine months to go - fingers crossed for more sunshine. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Richard Bridge Date: 11 Sep 12 - 09:34 AM We are trying to figure out a way at least approximately to pre-estimate numbers. As it stands if we get the same sort of numbers again the price could go down and if we get many more we might need another loo but the price could still probably go down. But if the forecast is bad and no-one comes it could be a disaster to fix the price too low. We are sort of idly kicking around the idea of getting people to make advance non-binding indications of likelihood of attendance and duration - perhaps somehow via the existing annex pages on the Folkmob website. Open to constructive suggestions. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: GUEST,CS Date: 11 Sep 12 - 09:52 AM You could try incentivising pre-payment? Maybe a slightly lower fee, or bonus of being included in a raffle. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Abdul The Bul Bul Date: 11 Sep 12 - 04:52 PM I'd imagine it would be a tricky exercise and mostly dependent on what some term "The Wevva". I don't have too much experience of Knockers but I do know the weather makes a diference, right up to the last minute. Would be good also if the communal meal wasn't quite as variable. I certainly intent to be there for em all if work schedules allow, regardless of the elements. Al |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Richard Bridge Date: 11 Sep 12 - 05:07 PM Yes. Feast was traditionally Thursday but if Sue isn't there to take charge it wibbles! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: VirginiaTam Date: 11 Sep 12 - 05:21 PM My voice is still not all the way back. Think Water Boy is off my song list from now on. Lovely to see old friends and make some new ones. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Pierre Le Chapeau Date: 12 Sep 12 - 08:05 AM Excellent Knockholt great weather ,Who knows about the weather in june 2013 ,we have to wait and see but I will be there and I am looking forward to it already. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Lady Raffles Date: 13 Sep 12 - 03:23 AM Nick has asked if anyone found a swiss army knife or a mobile in the field as he also lost them along with his Gelert chair - sounds like he had a good Knockholt! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Richard Bridge Date: 13 Sep 12 - 03:35 AM Where was Nick sitting? I have only the chairs that were mine (three of which broke) but if we know where he was it will narrow down who is likely to have seen his stuff. I bet the phone and knife are in the cupholder of the chair. Exactly who was Nick anyway (I had a good Knockholt too)? Best way to identify him to me is by what guitar he played - or is he the friend of Richard from Brighton - small and bearded? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Lady Raffles Date: 13 Sep 12 - 04:31 AM I think he was near Gaynor and Martin, he was wearing a hat, he sung Jim's pirate song, he's about 65ish and has an American accent - he's the guy who thought he had your lamp from June and you're probably right about the knife and phone being in the cup holder - it makes sense. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Pierre Le Chapeau Date: 13 Sep 12 - 06:28 AM I was at folkmob last night and Nick did not mention a thing about chairs or mobiles,I will see him tonight and make enquires.after all there is a possibility they have turned up? It also appears that Liam was on the field long after every one had gone. seems his behavior was bad enough to piss off people who would normally show concern to a person who they know has no menas of transport in regards to getting home. It appears Martin took him home in the end. The only reason Martin was there was he had taken a stroll to Down and had a sleep on the way back hence martyinmet Liam at 6oclock. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Richard Bridge Date: 13 Sep 12 - 09:09 AM Ah - I remember the voice. No idea about the chair. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Pierre Le Chapeau Date: 13 Sep 12 - 11:22 AM I understand Liam was sitting in a chasir when Martin got back to the field at 6. Liam did not have a chair when he arrived he arrived with a tent and a tin of baked beans and that was it , after spending all the previous monday night prior to knockers telling him what he would need? Martin stated to me Liam was sitting in a chair when he took him home. That does not mean it is the chair in question but it does seem rather odd??????? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves 2012 From: Lady Raffles Date: 13 Sep 12 - 12:14 PM That could be the mystery solved then - Martin said that Liam seemed to have quite a lot of gear when he took him home - which sound rather more than just one tent and an empty can of beans. As you say it might not be the chair in question but maybe you could mention it to Nick when you see him tonight Pete. |
