Subject: BS: Bobert Hits the Lottery: Music, Kinda??? From: Bobert Date: 26 Jul 12 - 08:32 PM Well, when we moved here to NC last year we found that we are part of a 4 house subdivision with 6 to 20 acre lots and we've gotten to know everyone and fitting in real good... One of our neighbors, Donna, is a widow... Her husband was a major picker and so Donna went away for 10 days and asked us to watch her house... No problem... So she just got home today and I took some produce from our garden and she said, "I have some things I want you to have" and then proceeded to give me her late husbands music books, amp and TEAK reel to reel... I am blown away... This guy obviously played everything... He had (now in my possession) two notebooks with hundreds and hundreds of songs with tabs... I ain't talkin' crappy songs... I mean, Dylan, Stills, Steely Dan, CSN&Y, Beatles, Steve Earle, Jimi Hendrix, Creedance, Zeplin... I mean, everything... Wow, I am so blown away... Gonna be a very busy night figuring out just what I have but it's equivalent to hitting the lottery... And, can you believe this??? She just wanted to get this stuff out of her way??? Sheet fire and Cowabunga!!! B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Hits the Lottery: Music, Kinda??? From: Bobert Date: 26 Jul 12 - 08:54 PM I've spent the last half an hour just scratching the surface... I mean, this guy was doing Pearl Jam stuff and Hootie & the Blowfish... I am impressed... This collection is going to take a lot more than one night to figure out... BTW, there is a book entitled, "The Definitive Bob Dylan Songbook"... It's 2 inches thick and has 788 pages!!! LH??? Anyone know about TEAK 2060 reel-to-reel recorders or Dean Marley amps??? B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Hits the Lottery: Music, Kinda??? From: Bobert Date: 26 Jul 12 - 09:36 PM Yup, that's it, GUEST... It ain't tube type (that's bad) but I needed a second amp to split my Lowebow up... Hard to expalin, but I needed it... The TEAK seems to be broken... Parts not there... The music books??? The ones I don't want, I will try to get them to folks who appreciate them... B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Hits the Lottery: Music, Kinda??? From: GUEST,A friend of GFS Date: 27 Jul 12 - 04:44 AM I've been watching this blog for Michael, and trying to keep him informed. Michael was airlifted to a hospital, in an emergency. He had open heart, quadruple bi-pass surgery. Our family is back home from visiting him. He asked me to follow certain topics and people in this blog. Bobert is one of them, because he was in the middle of a favour for him. He cannot have a computer in his room, so I would print certain posts for him, and he would comment. Bobert, he says that while your reel to reel may in fact be made of teak, is is more than likely a TEAC, and from the numbers you gave, a two track stereo. I will remain in touch with him, being as I am not in the area any more to show him the print outs. While most of the physicians thought his chances were slim, indeed, he has been recovering remarkably well, all thing considered, and has gained the favour of the health care staff with his wit, and sense of humour. There are a few very honourable moments about his stay there, which I may share with you at a later time. I'm new at this so forgive me any errors along the way. M.N. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Hits the Lottery: Music, Kinda??? From: GUEST,999 Date: 27 Jul 12 - 08:31 AM Please pass along my best wishes for a speedy recovery to Michael. I've noticed his absence, but I'd put it off to a timeout. I wish it had been. |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Hits the Lottery: Music, Kinda??? From: Bobert Date: 27 Jul 12 - 09:03 AM Tell Micheal to "bite me"... No, jus' funnin'... Tell him that I am totally bummed out hearing about this and that he's in my prayers... B~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Hits the Lottery: Music, Kinda??? From: Rapparee Date: 27 Jul 12 - 09:24 AM That ain't supposed to happen to anyone. Tell him to get outa there. Bobert, that's probably Teac, not Teak. Good machine; I have one. Look around, you can get it repaired. And contact The Deckman! |
