There are lots of sage words heard in the Cornell Folk Song Society.
It is held in the Sage Chapel directly across from the famous Library Tower at the Cornell University campus in Ithaca, New York State.

Actually, I think that you will find that this is not a folk song, but a written song; written, in fact by Leon Rosselson.

I thought there was a thread here along the lines of "Things I have learned from Folk Songs" but I can't find it.

Such sage tips as:-

If you're about to walk out on a May morning - think again; no good will come of it.

If you happen to wander by the salt sea strand while walking out on a May morning - go home; no good will come of it.

If you should meet a fair young maid by the salt sea strand on a fine May morning - run the other way! No good will come of it.

There was a lot more - all of which I have ignored in life, and endured the predicted disasters. Ah well.

yeh there was one - Barry Roberts sent me it before he popped his clogs. Then within a month or two, it was everywhere - like that bloody teatowel - about cricket. Once you're in -you're out and all that bollocks.

No ...what it was .... I suddenly remebered when i was about fourteen and got into folk music - my sister brought me one of these books by Oak Publications - and there was the one about the skillet being good and greasy.

Being a bit young and naive.... I was thinking - Good and greasy...whatever this chap is cooking sounds revolting. Like a school dinner.

It never occurred to me that I was being advised to lube up when I went channel swimming, so to speak.
