The chords don't sound like they're quite right because thru the chord progression, the rhythm guitar is plays an E chord arpeggio that creates a very subtle tension.

This is simple, understated song, but there are subtle emotions that make it stick with you. I've never tried to sing it, but I'll bet it's one of those tunes that's easy to get, but hard to get right.

E
Don't know why I wandered off last night
C#m
I was having a good time and feeling all right
G#m
Feeling right at home with you
A
Guess I hadn't had enough though or something
B
And I just go

Saw some of my old running boys over by the back door
Having a laugh thought I'd say hello been a while
Then one thing leads to another I guess        And anyway I just go

A                                        B7
I didn't know till you left word for me
E                                        c#m
Your concern about where I'd disappeared to
A
And it never crossed my mind
                                                                        B
That I'd worried you or been unkind in doing so

And I'm so so sorry I took off so fast
That you felt abandoned and left out like that
Please understand
You see I just don't pay much mind sometimes        Sometimes
And I just go

I need you to know
How I long to do all that you want me to
I'd go anywhere at all any time you call        To comfort you

And I take every word or your advice
I'd make any kind of sacrifice to let you know
But there's this other voice calling me sometimes And I just go

Those chords sound good to me. There are two great guitar solo breaks on this song which are just sweet - well worth a listen.

It's always seemed to me like a hark back to "Sierra" on the "Some Change" album, which also contains the heartbreaking "Lost It".

Seen him do this live on YouTube, he uses different tuning and makes it look so cool. Hardly touches it......sublime

He's playing in open E. You can see what he's playing pretty clearly and he's got an E chord with the whole guitar open.
