My son DOES get a lot of his news & opinions from Jon Stewart.

My son, at 34, now reads some items in these lists with amazement and amusement. I love that!

My youngin' would have some familiarity with most of those names, Mark. He did not, however, have a clue who Phyllis Diller was.

And yes, he gets much of his news from John Stewart, or from links to news posted on Parkour and Longboard forums.

A large number of the references in that list don't really comment on young adults' attitudes and perspectives as much as they simply remind us older folks that it's been 18 years since __________ happened.

The fact that Kurt Cobain has always been dead for them? Yes, that's what happens in a universe where time only flows in one direction. Let a few more years pass by and there'll be bunch of 18 year-olds for whom Heath Ledger's always been a dead guy too.
