Subject: BS: Scientific back steps. From: Bert Date: 31 Aug 12 - 07:41 PM I remember a program called Magic Word that I used on my old Apple II plus. It gave you a screen that worked like a sheet of paper, you could type anywhere on it. We have progressed backwards so far that now your typing area depends upon what you have typed before. |

Subject: RE: BS: Scientific back steps. From: JohnInKansas Date: 31 Aug 12 - 07:52 PM Only partially true in the past several versions of Word, since you can select the option that allows you to "click anywhere on the page" and what you type will start wherever you clicked. Most people don't care for the results and don't turn the option on, but it's been available in several versions. John |

Subject: RE: BS: Scientific back steps. From: Greg F. Date: 31 Aug 12 - 08:14 PM That's why I'm still using Word 2000- it actually almost does what its supposed to & doesn't try to think for you-- too much-- once you turn all the automatic crap off. |

Subject: RE: BS: Scientific back steps. From: JohnInKansas Date: 01 Sep 12 - 12:42 AM Greg F. - I believe the "type anywhere" option was available in Word 2000. I don't recall where to find it, but in more recent versions all it requires is a check at "enable click and type." And Rap finally fully justifies the "Scientific back steps" title for the thread. ☼ John |
