Subject: What do Mudcat posters look like? From: Vic Smith Date: 29 Sep 12 - 06:46 AM One of the disadvantages of Mudcat (compared with, let's say. Facebook) is that you cannot post photos, which often leaves me wondering what some of the people who post here look like. Some may wish to preserve anonymity - especially those who do not post under their own names, but it would be interesting see links to recent photos of regular posters. I'll start the ball rolling with one that I took last week at our folk club on Mike Ainscough, who posts here as Will Fly |

Subject: RE: What do Mudcat posters look like? From: GUEST,matt Milton Date: 29 Sep 12 - 09:44 AM I'm so previous century that my first reponse was "Mudcat do posters now? Wall decorations for the discerning folkie's bedroom?" but anyway... what I look like (when playing musical instruments) |
Subject: RE: What do Mudcat posters look like? From: Bobert Date: 29 Sep 12 - 10:12 AM I'm in the Mudcat pics sections but... Wiry, gray ponytail, got most all my teeth (1 missing in the back), no tattoos or body piercing, 6'1" and 170 pounds dripping wet... B~ |

Subject: RE: What do Mudcat posters look like? From: Vic Smith Date: 29 Sep 12 - 10:33 AM Here, from that same folk club, is a photo of the Mudcat regular Valmai Goodyear. She is playing alongside Bryan Creer who used to post here as The Snail. Happily, he seems to have cured himself of this particular addiction. Well done Bryan! However, it does mean that he has to go the meetings of sad, twitchy people where he has to stand up and say. "Hello. My name is Bryan and I post on Mudcat...." |

Wonder if there's an option on it to sort that out... |

Subject: RE: What do Mudcat posters look like? From: GUEST,999 Date: 29 Sep 12 - 12:00 PM Very kind of you Vic. Fact is, if I had a dog that looked like me I'd shave its arse and teach it to walk backwards. I recently went bald thanks to some dog clippers and the picture hasn't improved. I appreciate the link you gave because unless that's an open tuning of some sort, it ain't every day ya see someone doing an A dim. |

Subject: RE: What do Mudcat posters look like? From: Don Firth Date: 29 Sep 12 - 04:19 PM Poster from a concert that Bob Nelson (Deckman) and I did a couple of years ago. Brace yourself!! (Put your mouse pointer on the picture and click to expand it a bit.) First picture recent. Bob standing, me seated with my little travel guitar. I have to use that now because I'm in a wheelchair and the right wheel of the chair gets in the way of the lower bout of a full-size guitar and throws it out of position. The second picture is from 1959. Bob and me singing at "The Place Next Door" in Seattle. Me seated with my Tatay classic guitar, Bob standing with Martin steel-string. Don Firth |

Subject: RE: What do Mudcat posters look like? From: JennieG Date: 29 Sep 12 - 05:51 PM Bob, aren't you the good looking one - whichever that is? I dislike having my photo taken, and even more dislike my photo being posted on the internet with or without (particularly without) my permission. On the Mudcat facebook page my profile picture is of our late lamented Belle cat - who is much better looking that I ever was, or ever will be. Cheers JennieG |

Subject: RE: What do Mudcat posters look like? From: Don Firth Date: 30 Sep 12 - 02:15 PM Actually, open mike, the concert that Bob and I did (pictures above from the poster) is not this October, but some five years ago. Jeez, I can't believe it was that long ago!! Here is a write-up and a couple of reviews from the Pacific Northwest Folklore Society's Newsletter: CLICKY. Jordan Myers can write my reviews anytime!! He gets it! Don Firth |

Subject: RE: What do Mudcat posters look like? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 30 Sep 12 - 10:05 PM I look a bit like Michelangelo's statue of David. No, not the famous one of King David that's in all the art history books. The one of David Morelli, the bearded, bald-headed geezer who ran the pizza joint down the street from Michelangelo's studio. Michelangelo carved it from a bar of soap and gave it to David as payment for a large pie with sausage, mushrooms and onions. |
