Mike.. when my father passed, he had been in constant discomfort for several years and couldn't be 'useful' anymore...

When the doctor called us in and told us he was gone, I just said softly..."At least he doesn't hurt anymore."

There's seldom an easy way to lose someone, but .... well, you know....

The best advice I can give in this situation is from my old mentor, Uncle Albert, who believed that life was just an extension of playing guitar. He used to say, "you can play anything, if your thumb is resting in the right place."

My mother-in-law died today at about 3:50 p.m. EST. We'll be flying to BWI Saturday. The viewing will be (as of right now) Thursday and the funeral Friday. Burial will be around the middle of February in Arlington with my father-in-law (and her father, and uncles, and sister-in-law, and...).

Not much cheer, but we're glad it's over and she's at peace. I wish the rest of us were....
