I was outside the door all afternoon and it still sounded great and the little I could see through the gap between the door and the door frame looked good too. I'll get there earlier next time.

Weasel.

It sounded brilliant from outside but nobody seemed that willing to do much squeezing up so after a listen I headed off for a ghoulash soup on the Christmas Markets. Called in again on the way back but even when one couple left the space was immediately filled up by people spreading out. Shame as there was some really good singing to heard even if it was slightly muffled on the landing.

Young lass behind the door sang beautifully. Nice to see a good spread of ages as well. Save all my newly learned Christmas songs for next year.

Ha! I very nearly didn't go at all because I thought it'd be packed out. I was very nearly right, too. Many thanks to the people (I won't name them) who magically budged enough space out of a packed bench for me to sit down. And thanks to Becky and the YUs for putting on a great sing.

What a terrific afternoon!

Just one thing - next time, don't tell as many people about it then I can sit down.

I hope there'll be another one soon.

Cheers,

Weasel.

I've managed to re-arrange work for the morning so should make it at some point during the afternoon depending on what time I finish.

Will be interesting to meet a few mudcatters for the first time!

Cheers,

Weasel.

Just to clarify,

is this a session just for performers or is it the kind of session that you could just sit-in on and listen with a pint?

Cheers,

Weasel

I wish I'd seen this thread earlier Sean - I could have given the info out for you on my radio programme, Sounds of Folk, which covers the Greater Manchester area. Sorry - I really ought to go into Mudcat more often! Please let me know if you're doing anything else in our area.
Ali x

Thnaks Sean, sounds wonderful, and such a historic setting (though I've not seen upstairs).

Shame I don't live near Manchester any more or I'd be there like a shot- specially as it'll be my birthday.

Great beer there and lovely food- game pie on the menu last time I was there.

Have fun!
