Subject: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: Mo the caller Date: 26 Dec 12 - 06:07 AM At the top left of my screen, just under Mudcat Cafe and above |Lyrics & Knowledge is the word 'new'. It IS new, wasn't there yesterday. Who put it there? Has everyone got one? It's not a clicky so what's it for? |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: wysiwyg Date: 26 Dec 12 - 06:10 AM I see it too-- in Firefox. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 26 Dec 12 - 06:37 AM I noticed it a few days back - I prodded it with my cursor but as it didn't do anything, I promptly forgot about it. but it's still there! Now you have me wondering what it is. sandra (also Firefox) |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: Mo the caller Date: 26 Dec 12 - 06:42 AM I've got it in IE and Chrome. |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: DMcG Date: 26 Dec 12 - 06:45 AM My guess is that it means Mudcat is running on the PHP/Linux setup, rather the old Coldfusion. If that means nothing, don't worry - it shouldn't matter, unless you find something that isn't working how it used to, in which case let a mudelf know. |

Subject: RE: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: MGM·Lion Date: 27 Dec 12 - 09:18 AM If the last 3 posts mean that the word isn't there any more; then, yes it is, at the top of my Mudcat, both on Firefox & Safari. If that isn't what Guest, Mo & Nigel meant, then what precisely were they on about? ~M~ |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: GUEST,999 Date: 27 Dec 12 - 09:28 AM They are waxing their poeticals, MtheGM. |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: MGM·Lion Date: 27 Dec 12 - 09:35 AM Yes, Bruce ~~ but with what relevance to the ongoing discourse? ~M~ |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: GUEST,999 Date: 27 Dec 12 - 09:44 AM Michael, I read the rhymes they chose to show And must admit I do not know. |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: Jeri Date: 27 Dec 12 - 11:29 AM T'was rumored here, t'was here I heard Max had writ a magic word For those who couldn't notice what was true, yeah. He wrote it small, to save on space And it was all in lower case But above all other text, he wrote "new", yeah! Ongoing discourse: A. There's a word in the upper left of my page. It say's "new"--what's it mean? B. It means it's a new version of Mudcat. A. Oh B. Shame no one's written a song about it. A. Lemme try: Let's wax our poetical It ain't hypothetical Don't have to be symmetrical Anyone remember "Metrecal" ...well, that's a start. B. You suck A. You suck more ...etc., and on to 400+ posts. |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: Mo the caller Date: 27 Dec 12 - 12:04 PM Well M. I was just replying to Guest. After all, the original question has been answered. If you'd like another question about the workings of the Mudcat Screen - Why do the threads I have read all the post of sometimes change colour and sometimes not? |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: GUEST,999 Date: 27 Dec 12 - 12:19 PM "Why do the threads I have read all the post of sometimes change colour and sometimes not?" That happens to me, too. I put it off to the drugs. |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: Mysha Date: 27 Dec 12 - 05:29 PM Hi, For me it isn't there. It is, however, behind "Cafétm", and above "Page Record". I take it, it's to be able to tell the versions apart. Bye, Mysha |
Subject: RE: Tech: 'new' word on my screen From: GUEST,999 Date: 28 Dec 12 - 08:11 AM What 'versions'? |
