Little bump in the road, Doc buddie just told me I got bladder cancer but ... he can fix it .. so far he thinks he got it early ... have some surgery monday morning but nothing serious, clean the crap out of there.

always something huh ... I am fine but could use your good thoughts and prayers ... kids wig ya know ... me I don't care, just a pothole in life's highway ...

A friend of mine was diagnosed with bladder ca and had it successfully removed. He was told by his doc that if he didn't stop smoking cigarettes it would almost certainly reoccur. It hasn't for near on 20 years now.

That being said I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery from your surgery. And if you're a smoker - please quit.

Dan, As you may know, I just had a quadruple bi-pass not that long ago. For what it's worth, I found myself COMPLETELY not afraid nor stressed about it one bit. After the surgery, which lasted about 7 hours, and I 'woke up' in the ICU. The next day they took me to the 'regular' cardiac recovery ward. I was still 'not afraid' nor stressed. When it came time to walk up and down the hall..I found myself just trying to do the walk..and wasn't bummed about it..just did it..AND.. with the will to go farther...and more times a day..etc etc.
Later, toward the end of my stay, the cardiologist, who did the operation, said my 'recovery was miraculous'(used those words)...AND I was focusing a bit on my music.
Moral of the story:.....Do not be afraid or stressed, be of good cheer, optimistic and focus on the beauty of your music, AND WHERE IT COMES FROM!!!!....and I have reason to believe, that if you even have to have the surgery....the recovery should be 'better than ever anticipated'.
Get rest, sleep and be at peace...your body will heal..and might even blow your mind!
An 'Intergalactic Space Telephone Call'(prayer) goes out, in your behalf....if you feel 'the little birdie'...talk with it....it's on your side!...it brings healing, both inside and out!

Dan, will your surgery go forward tomorrow if you have pneumonia? Please share as much time-frame as you're comfortable with or there will be lots of posts asking if anyone has heard. Just be careful if the Mudcat Recovery Ward opens again (it's an annex off the Mudcat Tavern, you get there through a coat closet by pushing past the overcoats and don't trip on the boots on your way through), don't let Nurse Ratched near you. She tends to make things worse, not better.

Well I go to the doc tomorrow for the cancer crap. But I been hacking so bad that I suspect my doc buddie will dump me in the hosp for a couple days. I been trying to avoid him LOL ... he called 911 on me friday when I fell over coughing talking to him on the phone. I drove myself down to the hosp and the cops came to my house. Called the ER room and said ... Hey we ain't going into that house. There is a huge snarling dog at the door.   My gus gets a bit protective when no one is home ... couldn't stop laughing ... told my cop friends hey I am already in the er room ... should have let them keep me, they gave me iv antibiotics and sprung me loose as I wanted .. now I am thinkin maybe I should let them put me in a couple days to fix this dang thing. Nothing to worry about, since I was a kid every stinking time I get a cold right to my chest .. normal for me .. I bounce back really quick ... tough old cowboy

Well I am fine, when to the ER room had 500 zillion people all there, said naw and came home. Lay-ed around all afternoon ... doing ok ... I am going to the cancer doc tomorrow for sure. I want this silly thing checked fixed whatever he does. Some kinda scope thingy whatever. Hopefully even with pneumonia he will do it. They don't put you out for that anyway I been told. Heck I figure anything that doesn't kill ya makes ya stronger and anything that kills ya ..well ya won't care cause your dead ... so it will be fine.   Not even a little worried. Great docs, lots of good friends. What more does a guy need.

Well nothing can be worse then the PE I had that was suppose to kill me back in 89. I was in intensive care and the doc said, Dan this is going to suck but I have to do it .. so they could not put me out for it cause I would die, so he ran a big ass needle between my ribs and into the lung to drain out blood from the clot. Then cut a hole in my chest to re-inflate the lung ... I was wide awake for it all. No pain meds, nothing Afterwords I said, you have a gift for understating the level of suckage. so this is nothing trust me. The crap I been through nothing rattles me. Only when it happens to those I love, then I wig.

That "clear margin" is what you want to aim for, Dan. As a doctor friend pointed out years ago when I had a similar challenge, it's not the recuperation you need to worry about (well of course you do, but it is secondary to the cancer removal). It just happens that surgery that is less invasive is just as good at getting cancer as the surgery that leaves you a marked-up mess.

I didn't have cancer in there but they did use that scope to see for themselves. The nurse came to me and said, "I have to perform a rather unpleasant procedure, and she took a jar of some sort of slippery stuff and rubbed it all over John Thomas. For once I kept my mouth shut, but I thought, "It may be unpleasant for you, but... I couldn't believe my insurance covers this.

I'll tell you the rest after you are done with it, Dan. By then you will know yourself.

I was in hop for several days in my mid 20s for an op on little gnu. My roommate was about my age and he had strictures cut (he broke his dick the good way... hmmmm... SHE broke his dick the good way). Neither of us could walk without a lot of pain and what are two lads that age gonna do for excitement? Wheelchair races round the ward. Wheelchair drag races. It entertained some of the other patients too. Pissed off the nurses tho (pun intended).

Who do you NOT wanna piss off? Yup... nurses. The flirting and racy comments were painful. Then came the sponge bath followed by an application of some kinda "cooling" cream on the back. And WHO did it? Cathy. She wasn't even assigned to our room and, having said that, I don't need to explain what she looked like. Couldn't move for an hour. Refused mine the second time she showed up. I did so just after roomy had his second one. He said, "I never thought of that." thru gritted teeth.
