Vance Gilbert will perform at Stone Soup Coffeehouse on January 26, 2013. It should be an evening filled with warmth and humor. Gifted singer/songwriter Joanne Lurgio will open for Vance.

The music starts at 8 PM at Stone Soup Coffeehouse in the hall of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 50 Park Place, Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Pawtucket is just south of the Massachusetts state line and just north of Providence, and Stone Soup is just a few blocks from Rt. 95's Exit 27. I love Vance's music. I play his Old Man's Advice with our jug band and Goodbye Pluto is a brilliant song. 26 Reasons, written right after the Newtown Massacre brought tears to my eyes. I'm a long way from Rhode Island or I'd be there for sure.

Somehow I posted as Guest above. I met Vance at the Shelter Valley Folk Festival near Grafton in Southern Ontario. We had a discussion about Oscar Brown Jr. in the hospitality tent. I could see Oscar's influence in his work. I became a fan of Vance that weekend.

Vance sang two of the songs above. When someone requested 26 Reasons, he said he would only do it for a benefit but he made the video to get it out there and say what he wanted to say.
