Subject: BS: Mornington Crescent Spring 2013 From: Stu Date: 07 Mar 13 - 08:01 AM It's been ages since we've have a really good game of Mornington Crescent on Mudcat, so I'm starting one here. If you don't know how to play don't butt in and ruin the flow but try to follow the game and when confident enough, play a turn. Just for a change, we'll play Ambo's 1893 rules (third revision) with Salp's 1932 appended section to avoid the converging laterals issue. Also, remember that oblique approaches are not allowed above Ruislip Gardens but then if you don't remember that, it's questionable you should be playing anyway (ridiculous rule). So I'm starting: Penge West |

Subject: RE: BS: Mornington Crescent Spring 2013 From: GUEST Date: 08 Mar 13 - 07:44 AM wolfie,(may I call you that ?) you may find it difficult, S,J specified Ambo's 1893 Rules, unfortunately these have been out of print for many years, unless you use the Penguin Books reprint of 1953, which is extremely unreliable particularly with regard to the transference of oblique to diagonal moves. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mornington Crescent Spring 2013 From: GUEST,SPB at work Date: 08 Mar 13 - 07:55 AM Rumour has it that when the Westfield Shopping Centre was built, Shepherds Bush (Metropolitan Line) was renamed Shepherds Bush Market to prevent a potential irresolvable trifurcation. But, in memory of the move that was played for the last time in the historic November 1947 final, made possible because of Westfield WOOD LANE I wonder if this will result in an even more exciting game. |
