Hiya,
As some of you know, for the past 3 years I've done a charity walk to raise money for the Children's Liver Disease Foundation, these walks have included 160 miles in 6 days, 185 miles in 7 days and 200 miles in 10 days and have been in the Yorkshire Dales (Dales Way) North York Moors and the East coast of Yorkshire.
I'm looking to do a similar distance walk next year, somewhere in the UK in July, has anyone any suggestions where I could do it, taking 6 -10 days to complete it.

I want somewhere reasonably challenging (so not completely flat) in the countryside or coast, where I can backpack camp at a reasonable cost and or hostel.
So any suggestions welcome.

:D)
Cheers

Muppett

Here's a website you may already know http://www.yha.org.uk/places-to-stay/region/north-west/lake-district. I selected "Cumbria" and "moderate/hard". It came up with a fair few walks of up to 10 miles - you could try stringing some of them together...

There's also info on hostels in the area at YHA.

Pete

I believe Offa's Dyke takes a good week.
The Cotswold Way is quite long.
& the Minch FC is on a Thursday if that helps. Minchinhampton near Stroud. see Mr Red's Folk list within 20Km of Stroud I cover the Cotswold Folkie music pretty much.

WHY did you abandon the Children's Liver Disease Foundation ?

Is their foundation unworthy or are you only walking for the endorphin high?

Well, if I were to take a long hike in the UK, I'd be tempted to do it in Scotland. It seems like a terrific place for walking.

Muppett, your thread title was BS: where to do next year's charity walk (20

I take it that your title got truncated. I think what you wanted was BS: where to do next year's charity walk (2014), so that's what I changed it to. Please let me know if that's not right.

Guest, No, I've not abandoned the Children's Liver Disease Foundation, did you not notice the title of the Thread, if it wasn't for the work they are doing my Grandson Amos would not be alive now, so the walk I'm looking for suggestions for will be to raise money for The CLDF, and you are more then welcome to sponsor me to do, I'll post details as and when on this site, you could even join me for some or all of it.

Raggytash the coast to coast walk is one I'm thinking about, though I did a lot of the route in the walks I did this year and last year.

The rest of you have contributed to the thread thanks, Mr. Red, I was in the Cotswolds t'other year and enjoyed the scenery, so yeah that could be a possibility.

Jo thanks for changing the thread title, yep it got cut off.

So any more ideas out there and for 'Guest' benefit it'll be to raise money for the Children Liver Disease Fountain !
