To me this is the funniest thing of 2014 so far.

Pat Robertson implores Ken Ham to "Shut up."

You have to be pretty whacky to out whacky Pat Robertson.

It is eternally fascinating... and painful... to me to read & hear stupid arguments on these topics, whether they agree with me or not. Pat Robertson being halfway sensible for once is almost as painful, as it just ups the ante by the creationists and spurs them on.

"Pat Robertson implores creationist Ken Ham to shut up: 'Let's not make a joke of ourselves'"

Sorry, Pat, but it's a bit late for that.

I can see it now. A kinda "Who's on First?" without the numbers.

The camera pans to Ken who's reading The Bible and having his fourth stiff belt of whiskey. That introduces the Ham on Rye segment. He reads Ephesians 5:18 aloud.

Camera zooms in on Robertson who is seated behind a large desk on which is his nameplate that reads Marion the Clarion. As he rubs his forehead in a pained manner he says, "Let's not make a joke of ourselves."

Fade.

There is a comedy sketch like that that runs on tv in this market every day. I think it is called "The 700 Club."

I read this AM that John Boner said something like... Even Jesus couldn't be Speaker of this house.

If Jesus wanted to be President he would need birth certificate.

Tolerance seems in short supply among the legislators. One would think such would be the opposite.

there is nothing funny about pat Robertson's murderous policies.his church and he himself raised millions for the genocidal guatemalean dictator rios mont. all because mont was a fundalmentalist christian. mont killed almost a quarter million native people who were trying to get their stolen land back. poor natives trying to get their land back to support their families must be communists according to the American Christian fascists.

more recently he advocated assinating venezuala's elected leader.

what is called Christianity in the English speaking world has nothing to do with the teachings of jesus Christ

he is an evil murderous man--nothing funny at all

Robinsons ramblings demonstrating nothing except he don't believe what the bible says. does he then think he can resort to it for anything else?....it might be wrong there too, if it can be wrong on that.

Shit. I woulda swore we talked about this in another thread...

Interesting observation, Joe, but I do think there are many facets to these ideas. I believe JTS, through these and other threads he has started in recent times has attempted to have us consider the all-too-often ridiculous foundations of some of our beliefs as well as the more serious ramifications of such thinking. I admire anyone who is willing to stick their neck out to discuss "forbidden" topics so long as they can do so without injecting their own agenda. I'm not saying JTS has always been successful with the latter, though.

John, one wonders if it is some manner of censoring. The site has, (or had when I easily accessed it without any warning from Symantec,) a picture of Jesus - at least in the more common Anglo-Saxon interpretation of how he was thought to look - with the words, as I recall them, "Jesus (Hussein) Christ We won't know the truth without a birth certificate"

Joe.

You don't like me. You have disliked me for a long time.

Lets just put that on the table. OK.

At times I have asked you to do your job as you have described it, sometimes you have had to be shamed into doing it. You have resented that.

When I first came to this forum, the rules, one of which was "no personal attacks." But those rules were enforced by personal attacks. The Mudelfs were the people most likely to personally attack people. The fact that they had good motives did not make that strategy any more viable. There has been constant bickering and name calling on this forum ever since.

The rules from that time have changed. You know about those changes. I know that you know about these rules because you told me about them. Everyone is allowed to be anything they want EXCEPT unkind, impolite, argumentative, snooty, or either FOR or AGAINST that of-what-we-do-not-speak.

Doesn't that mean that if I were being narcissistic that would be OK? However, snootily pretending to be Sherlock Holmes, implying that I am Moriarty, is both unkind and impolite.

Joe, I think you like the insults and ridicule. At one point you said that something Musket said about me amused you. You also said "he should be nicer" hmmmm encouraging the bad behavior and tepidly saying "he should be nicer" I'm sure there is a pattern there. But it would be rude and unkind to speculate about what it might be. At that same time you said you were not a mudelf. Later I find, you have been closing my threads. Joe, you lied to me. You lied about your role on the open forum. That means you lied to all of us. Be ashamed.

I don't think I am a narcissist. I don't think I am smarter or better than anyone else on this forum. I do think that Max has given us a formula to return this forum to being as special as it used to be.

(We are allowed) be anything (we) want EXCEPT unkind, impolite, argumentative, snooty, or either FOR or AGAINST that of-what-we-do-not-speak.

Its not as if there is no other place on the Internet to be unkind, impolite, argumentative, and snooty. But there is no other place with this combination of kind, intelligent witty people. By the way Calling people "Whacko" or other such names literally hundreds of times is the opposite of wit.

I have been trying to use Max's formula to change this place for the better for some time. I have had varying degrees of success. But I have observed that the general degree of vitriol has decreased substantially. I gather that you do not like that. I think that you are going to have to take that up with Max. I started three different threads about three different events and I did so without being unkind, impolite, argumentative or snooty. I am being what I want without breaking the rules.

I really appreciate that Max has given me a tool with which to battle those who would try to make things uncomfortable for me with cheap psychological tactics. When I say that you are being unkind and impolite, I am using his words not mine. Of course you are free to argue that by talking about me in the third person and clumsily implying that I am suffering from narcissism. If you do decide that, I look forward to the debate and promise to be as kind and polite as I possible can.

As for the accusation that the three threads were started about the same subject. For one thing, I am free to be anything I want, for another, there are clearly three different subjects. A cartoon, A debate, and an unintentionally ironic comment from a very public figure. If you are unaware of that, perhaps you should not be secretly combining threads.
