I am totally in favor of this update although so far I can only remember that paper disproves Spock, what do you all think?

Also I think we know the answer to this question now...

It certainly beats previous attempts to extend the game to four options.
That never worked because with 6 possible outcomes (ignoring matching symbols)there was a disparity in how many wins/loses were available with each symbol. (The original had 3 outcomes with 3 symbols)
This one has ten possible outcomes, spread over five symbols, so gives equal chances whatever symbol is selected.

Lizard is snake sock puppet, beats Spock and Paper, loses to other 2
Spock is Vulcan salute, beats Scissors and Rock, loses to to other 2
Rock is fist, beats Scissors and Lizard
Paper is flat hand, beats Rock and Spock, how poetic
Scissors is kinda horizontal peace sign, beats Paper and Lizard

And it isn't a Venn diagram, it's a pentagram or 5-pointed-star-drawn-with-5-lines-no-lifting made of arrows. Put a handshape at each apex and the arrow pointing towards what each shape beats, since each shape is beaten by 2 and beats 2 you get the full pentagram.

I find this entire idea totally illogical. Spock has a standard issue Starfleet phaser. He can blast the shit out of rocks, paper, scissors, lizards, and pretty much anything up to and including small planets. You can't beat Spock. If Spock's in the game, just pick up your rock, paper, whatever, and go home. Unless one of your options is a tactical nuclear weapon....
