Folk Magazines offered (UK)

Faced with the prospect of moving house next month, I have a number of folk magazines that I don't want to take with me. These include:

Sing-Out Magazine 1992 – 1996 (Vol 37 1992/93 to Vol 42 1997/98) – missing Vol 39, Nos 3 and 4 and Vol 40, No 1

Southern Rag No 21, July 84 to FRoots No 186, December 1998 (not as many as it looks – they added 100 to the serial number). Plus SR No 9 and No 13.

Living Tradition - Odd numbers: Issue 1, Oct 19932,3,4, 10, 20, 26.
Then a run from Nos 28 to 103, missing only No 94.

I would prefer not to put them in the recycling, so they are free to anyone who can collect them from Gloucester (UK, not Mass!) in the next two weeks.

Failing an offer, charity shops often take specialist mags like this in good condition.

Or would the library of the University of Gloucestershire like to have them as a scholarly collection? If I were a university librarian, I am sure I would welcome such a gift.

I would be wary of giving them to a charity shop unless you know of a particular shop that will appreciate them. Some charity shops will take anything in, but then sift through the donations and ruthlessly throw away things the (often elderly) volunteers don't think will sell. They may well think that 'a load of old magazines' are not worth putting out in the shop.

True, Topsie! Usually Oxfam and local hospices are more considerate and value items more discriminately.

Very funny, Dick! They would end up in a box on the floor for sale and no-one would buy them and after a month they'd rightly bin 'em. They haven't got the space! They might be interested in the Sing Outs but they probably already have them anyway.

BUT, seeing as you've mentioned it they are taking and archiving current folk CDs.
