Subject: RE: Tech: can I print from Flickr? From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 25 Mar 15 - 09:39 AM Coincidence? I think not! My husband and I were studying that cover last night. The doorway separates two realsm, the straight and the rounded. In the straight realm we have sapient, patient Jeeves, with all his straight lines. (The flowerpots are an exception, but not a notable exception.) Look through the doorway, and we have the round and goofy world of Bertie Wooster - the wheel, the monocle, the round faces and spectacles of the grumply onlookers, and -most of all - the rounded mass of Bertie's bottom. Interesting! |
Subject: RE: Tech: can I print from Flickr? From: GUEST,DaveRo Date: 24 Mar 15 - 10:34 AM many straight lines... even the trash can, whose ribs manage to resemble the grooves on a Greek columnAnd if you hover the cursor over the obituary line on that flickr page it mentions Ionic columns and the origin of the artist's name - Ionicus. Coincidence? |

Subject: RE: Tech: can I print from Flickr? From: maeve Date: 24 Mar 15 - 10:10 AM Guest# led you to a helpful page when considering personally owned photos, that that may be very helpful another time. For those covers though, DaveRo has it. To test it for you, I clicked on one of the cover photos, chose full size, and clicked the download icon. I use Picasa free softare for photos & images in general, so once the file loads it immediately gives me the option to edit with Picassa. At that point I can print it as I please. Have fun (no clue whether copyright issues would be involved.) |

Subject: RE: Tech: can I print from Flickr? From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 24 Mar 15 - 10:07 AM I did it! I didn't find a download button, that would be too sensible. But I did find a picture of an arrow slamming into a wall, and that turned out to mean 'download.' I clicked on it, and somehow that led to the appearance of a box with a jpg in it, and I printed it. Thanks to both of you. Take a look at the first cover, which shows Jeeves holding up a key. Notice the order and tranquility of the many straight lines - the window bars, the door frame, the creases on Jeeves' trousers, and even the trash can, whose ribs manage to resemble the grooves on a Greek column. |
Subject: RE: Tech: can I print from Flickr? From: GUEST,DaveRo Date: 24 Mar 15 - 09:25 AM If I click a picture, on the next screen I see a download button at the bottom right. Once downloaded you can load them into whatever image or photo program you have an print from there. If you don't have an image processing program then I'm sure people could recommend one. What operating system? |

Subject: Tech: can I print from Flickr? From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 24 Mar 15 - 09:08 AM Here's a link to a web page that shows book covers by the illustrator 'Ionicus,' who made delightful covers for many P.G. Wodehouse titles. Ionicus had a real eye for that neglected element, the straight line. ionicus page Does anybody know how I can print these pages out in a workable size, say the size of a paperback book? I would like to make myself a little album. Thanks. |
