Yesterday in the DC area, a big ole potato truck overturned and spilled out its load of potatoes. Now, this to me begs for a song. I mean, potatoes? We have "Home Grown Tomatoes," "30,000 Pounds of Bananas," and now...potatoes?? And, of course, a former vice president who could not spell "potatoes" (among so many of his other "talents").

Potatoes. Early base for vodka. Potato famine. Potato bread. French fried potatoes. I don't know, there must be other angles. Potatoes are so ubiquitous. If I could write songs, I would write this one. But alas and alack, I cannot.

So...any Catters maybe could write it? Please make the chords not-too-difficult, and I will play it wherever I go. OK, then, havatit!

"FORESTVILLE, Md. (AP) - A tractor trailer overturned along the Capital Beltway in Prince George's County, injuring the driver and spilling its load of potatoes along the median.

The truck overturned early Wednesday on the outer loop before the Pennsylvania Avenue exit in the Forestville area, closing one lane during the morning rush.

Maryland State Police Cpl. Anthony Washington said Duane Bodkins, the driver, was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with a significant arm injury. A female pit bull named Sassy was also a passenger in the overturned tractor trailer, according to the driver's family. She has not yet been found.

Washington said investigators are looking at whether Bodkins fell asleep at the wheel."

There were crushed up potatoes and flattened spuds
The crushed Honda Civic of a man from HUD
There were tater tots and greasy spots where the taters had burned
The day that potato truck overturned.
