Subject: net meeting From: kendall Date: 30 Nov 99 - 08:07 PM How many of you 'catters have net meeting? Is it worth having? Seems like a good way to pass songs along if the melody is not available in print. I had mediaring, but, it sucked, so, I dumped it. |

Subject: RE: BS: net meeting From: Bugsy Date: 30 Nov 99 - 09:03 PM I have Intel Video phone, It works quite well and was installed in the computor when I bought it. Unfortunately I don't have a video camera, but it's ok for conversation etc. The trouble is there are too many people out there that just seem to want to show you their genitalia. I'm getting rather tired of the following conversation. THEM: Hello? ME; Hello? THEM:Have you got a camera? ME: No. (Picture comes on - some guy puffing away trying to pump his tyres up!) ME: Get a life, (hang up end of conversation) So far in the 5 months I've had the thing I've received about a dozen non genital pumping calls. 3 have which were offensive and would threatening to a person of frailer disposition. Give us a call!!!

Subject: RE: BS: net meeting From: Jon Freeman Date: 01 Dec 99 - 12:20 AM It was that sort of crap that put me off Net Meeting - when I had a look about a year ago, just about everybody I found either wanted to show themselves having sex or watch and some even wanted both at the same time! I don't have video but since I learned that there are a few decent people like Kendall trying to use the service, I have re-installed it on my computer and want to see how it compares with the other chat services. Subject: RE: BS: net meeting From: Bill D Date: 01 Dec 99 - 06:24 PM if you learn all the tricks, ICQ is probably the best for just communicating...it can be configured to be as private as you want, and along with AOL Instant Messenger, it is the most popular...having both is still free, and covers most of the bases..there is CUSeeMe also, but I have never tried it...(it was designed to work with a camera)..if all you want is to be able to post images, like of song manuscripts, there are lots of free web sites that will work... |

Subject: RE: BS: net meeting From: alison Date: 01 Dec 99 - 07:36 PM In its defence..... Mediaring does not rate well for chatting... but is still the best I have found for using the voicemail to record messages, and send them.. Yes, Netmeeting does have it's share of sickos, but you have the option of not being in the directory.. therefore the sickos don't know that you are actually there, and you only contact the people you know. I use it in conjunction with ICQ..... (I'll teach you Kendall if you get it installed), so you don't need phone numbers you can contact the other ICQ-ers on your list using ISP numbers. That way I already know the people I'm going to chat too..... If you use the privacy features on most of these chat rooms type things you shouldn't have much trouble..... slainte alison |

Subject: RE: BS: net meeting From: kendall Date: 01 Dec 99 - 09:56 PM My problem is I did install it, now I cant use it. It keeps saying server unavailable, and I cant see how to delete the program. Phooey, I had buddyphone with ICQ, but dumped it with the old computer. |
