Subject: RE: BS: Sources of unbiased information From: GUEST,Pete from seven stars link Date: 30 Aug 15 - 03:55 AM If you were not alluding to Dawkins attitude to faith you surely picked a poor example, since he clearly is not ultra skeptical and question everything about what he chooses to believe. As I say, rather ultra bias. I don't think I misrepresent you, Steve. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sources of unbiased information From: Steve Shaw Date: 30 Aug 15 - 04:00 AM I'll let you decide whether I picked a poor example. In the meantime I don't know what you're talking about, and neither do you. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sources of unbiased information From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 30 Aug 15 - 04:18 AM This from one who has admitted over and over he doesn't read history books himself. Not true Greg. I have been reading the history of WW1 all my teenage and adult life. I did say that Irish history was not a particular interest of mine and have read no books on that. I do know that that the issue of blame is disputed by historians though. Supposedly well read people like Jim were entirely ignorant of that fact. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sources of unbiased information From: Greg F. Date: 30 Aug 15 - 09:45 AM I have been reading the history of WW1 all my teenage and adult life. Oh, aye? You don't seem to have retained much if anything of what you read, then. Now, were the authors of these books alive or dead? Did they write for the tabloid press? Were their books available in regular bookshops? |
Subject: RE: BS: Sources of unbiased information From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 30 Aug 15 - 10:05 AM Greg, the views I expressed on WW1 are gleaned from the writings of historians over the last twenty plus years. Before that there were a few who did not support those views. Since then none. My retention is fine. All you who ridiculed me for my views have clearly read nothing written on the subject in the last twenty years. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sources of unbiased information From: Greg F. Date: 30 Aug 15 - 10:58 AM Since then none. Oh aye? Then you've read every single work by every single historian published in the last twenty years, have you? How long did that take? Prat. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sources of unbiased information From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 30 Aug 15 - 08:10 PM My husband is a great reader of history books. He says it takes ten years to get the whole story on an important event. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sources of unbiased information From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 31 Aug 15 - 05:13 AM Greg, I quoted historians who themselves referred to the consensus. I remind you that in two years of discussion, no dissenting historian was produced. Have you found one yet? No, and nor will you. |
Subject: RE: BS: Sources of unbiased information From: Greg F. Date: 31 Aug 15 - 10:34 AM I remind you that in two years of discussion, no dissenting historian was produced. Believe that pathetic fiction if you will, Keith. No skin off my arse. |
