Obit: Actor Martin Milner (1931-2015)

Not sure if actor Martin Milner was known outside of USA but heard on the TV news today, Sept. 07, 2015, that actor Martin Milner passed away at age 83.
He was famous for two TV programs. The first one was "Route 66" that he was in from about 1960 to 1964 with actor George Maharis.

He later starred in "Adam-12" with Kent McCord about two police officers - a weekly TV program from 1968-1975. I used to watch that program a lot as a kid. It was based on the local LAPD in Los Angeles.
He also was in six episodes of early "Dragnet" in the 1950's, another police TV program. I don't know if any of these TV programs were shown outside of USA.

In 1958 he appeared in the film "Marjorie Morningstar" where the cast list identifies him as Marty Milner.

I did not know this (from Wikipedia):

"When Milner was a teenager, he moved with his family to Los Angeles where his parents hired an acting coach and later an agent for the budding star. Milner had his first screen test and began his film career with his debut in the 1947 film Life with Father, in the role of John Day, the second oldest son of Clarence Day played by William Powell. Less than two weeks after filming for Life with Father ended in August 1946, Milner contracted poliomyelitis. He recovered within a year and had bit parts in two more films before graduating from North Hollywood High School in 1949."

He was very lucky to not have a pronounced limp or need braces or a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

And because this is a music blog, let us mention that Marty Milner (as he was then billed) played jazz guitarist Steve Dallas in SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS (1957).

The Chico Hamilton Quintet appears as his group...
