Calling them 'stereo politicians talking out of both sides of their mouths' isn't rudeness it's the truth!.....and as so far as calling it 'Hogwash', was actually being polite!....as far as the 'Bullshit' remark, that was referring to trying to call what it is, to say politics, and what we have today, is a far less life form than the composition of good music.
Now go wax political, and stay with surroundings that you are familiar with, and feel at home.
Got it?

Acme....is "rudeness" worse than stalking?

I have had three or four post today one referring to animal cruelty, a couple simply abusive, and one creepily using my Christian name, from someone posting as a guest.
Stalking should be stamped on before rudeness surely.

Musket: "You should go into politics Goofus, you'd walk it."

Naw...music is a higher calling, and recording in stereo is even better...and you can't bullshit about it...as Duke Ellington said, "If it sounds good, it is good!".... STEREO politicians 'sound good' as they're talking out of both sides of their mouths!!

Is it me, or is Goofus saying Trump is a bad thing?

I must stop eating cheese before going to bed.

Waterboarding, watching people jump off buildings, reading about people cheering same, a few miles away.

And still his polling is high. Who could ever take him on?

You should go into politics Goofus, you'd walk it. You could get Akenaton as your running mate. He'd get the illegal alien vote. I would say he could be naturalised but that is difficult on a number of levels.

Slough it off, but the parties(both) DO NOT hold their lying elected officials accountable....and this last Democrat administration is no exception...and to just keep repeating their lies and spin in some sort of sacred mantra is the height of stupidity which has done nothing to remedy the situation..and now has given rise to a host of Republican candidates most all, of which beat Hillary or Sanders in the general election, as per the polls.
You should NOT allow your party, which ever one you belong to to lie through their teeth, and rationalizing it with, "It's OK, as long as they SAY it's 'liberal' (or conservative, to be fair)...the Bozos should be held accountable...jeez, we are the ones allegedly paying them to represent ALL of us...not just the trendy ideology d'jour!!...and do their best to convince their 'devotees', that their policies, are in fact, representative of the people's will...instead of doing their damnedest to convince you that the cronies they are greasing, is really for your own good!..What a bunch of hogwash!!

The one thing that catapults Trump, is that Democrats, especially the variety of 'so-called liberal' parrots, is that instead of holding your party accountable, and demanding a correction of mistakes, misdeeds, and misleading statements, you go along with all deceptions and failed policies....you are doing Trump a massive favor!!...otherwise, he'd have no traction...other than bagging on the Republicans for not doing anything about it...sounds like the 'so-called liberal' Democrats and the Republicans have something in common!! They, and YOU are propelling Trump!!!...but your blinders keep you from seeing it!

Thank you for that link, gillymor. I'd not heard it before. Nice rendition. However, not quite what I'm searching after. I've spent some time listening to various takes of the song and most seem to stumble in the words. The melodies are beautiful, but achieving a semblance of rationality in terms of the lyrics escapes my grasp. But I shall keep looking. (Lakes of Pontchartrain is giving me the same headache at present.) However, I very much appreciate the suggestion. ;-)

It doesn't HAVE to be Mrs Palin. but it must be a powerful personality with the ability to unite; her lack of political expertise is a positive in breaking the moribund template of American politics.

She arrived on the scene after the trauma of Bush's Iraq adventure, the time was right for change, and what did you get, a black Chicago lawyer steeped in the machinations of Chicago Democrat politics.
It would have been almost impossible to find anything more divisive.
To compound the problem, he filled his administration with hawkish right wingers, ramping up the phoney war.

Never make the mistake of thinking that the US political system can be changed from the left....it cant.
Unity is the only way to achieve change in such a society.

I fail to see anything positive in Palin. She is the exact opposite of the way you're trying to portray her. Far from being a "uniter" she is a strictly partisan politician who is not bright enough to comment in detail on any of the major issues facing the world (if you have any video clips or speeches demonstrating that this is not true please provide them). She maintains her brand by dishing out pre-masticated sound bites prepared by her handlers to excite her equally dull and extremely conservative "fan base". She is the darling of social conservatives that know they're supposed to hate liberals but who can't be bothered to delve much further than that into issues. The only republicans who pay her any attention these days are the occasional, desperate presidential aspirant who hopes to siphon off some of her "fans".

I suppose what I'm saying is that US politics seems to be stuck in a partisan political dogfight between two parties who both work in the interests of one small section of society.

At the moment, anyone who looks capable of breaking the grid lock is demonised or sidelined.
If you want "change" it will be necessary to attack the whole political establishment, not just continue the war of attrition against your most hated label.

The people who constitute this forum are for the most part extremely intelligent, I am amazed by the totally partisan nature of their political positions.
They fail to see ANTHING positive in their opponents, or anything negative in their own "representatives"? This means of course that nothing in the way of political change can ever be achieved, especially from a left perspective.

By Tommaso Campanella

(Italian philosopher, 1568–1639. Translation by John Addington Symonds)

THE PEOPLE is a beast of muddy brain
That knows not its own strength, and therefore stands
Loaded with wood and stone; the powerless hands
Of a mere child guide it with bit and rein;
One kick would be enough to break the chain,         5
But the beast fears, and what the child demands
It does; nor its own terror understands,
Confused and stupefied by bugbears vain.
Most wonderful! With its own hand it ties
And gags itself—gives itself death and war         10
For pence doled out by kings from its own store.
Its own are all things between earth and heaven;
But this it knows not; and if one arise
To tell this truth, it kills him unforgiven."

What I think will make no difference to anything Greg, but one thing I have learned in my lifetime, is that relying on the political establishment to change anything in real terms is a pipe dream.
they look after their own interests and any one who rocks the boat is demonised ......as is happening in the UK right now, where Labour Party MPs are trying to obstruct and remove a leader (who was elected by a huge majority of Party members), for daring to talk about socialism.

Mrs Palin is not a political apparatchik. She tells it as she sees it and it would be in her interests to represent the whole electorate not a sector.

Greg, you seem to be misunderstanding what I was getting at. I know you don't like Mrs Palin, but surely you dislike the Pub/Dem circus more? Nothing will change until the political status quo is challenged.

Mr Obama was a really nice guy, and folks had high hopes that he would bring in the change that he promised, but the system defeated him.....he wasn't allowed to bring in any change which radically altered the corporate biased political system.
Did Mr Obama try very hard? No, I don't think he did, he is a cautious lawyer steeped in corporate Chicago Democrat politics. It simply is not in his nature to rock the corporate boat.

Mrs Palin would have been a wild card, a populist, who I think could have united left right and centre. The Republican grandees feared and hated her even more than they did Mr Obama. The people who rule capitalism are happy for the "good cop/bad cop" scenario to continue.

Here's the sort of folks that would vote for Palin:

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.
(AP) Wednesday, November 18, 2015 —

A Denver-area store called Isis Books & Gifts wants the world to know its name comes from the Egyptian goddess of healing and motherhood and it isn't run by terrorists.

Co-owner Jeff Harrison said Wednesday that the suburban Denver shop has been vandalized five times in the past year or so, probably by people who mistake the name for ISIS, one of the acronyms for the Islamic State terrorist group.

The latest vandalism came last weekend when a store sign was smashed after the terrorist attacks in Paris that killed 129 people.

The store sells books and gifts related to spirituality, religion and healing.

"Isis is the name of an Egyptian goddess, 3,500 years old at least, the goddess of women and healing and childbirth — basically the antithesis of everything the terrorists are about," he said.

Harrison suspects the vandals are "some ignorant people believing that somehow the terrorists have a store, a gift store, in the middle of Denver, Colorado."

I think if it came to a choice, many "liberals" would prefer Mr Trump to Mrs Palin, although Mr Trump fails to energise anyone but the commercial right and those who support it against their own interests.

Mrs Palin has appeal right across the political spectrum with the exception of born again Democrats who only vote for the label and politically savvy Republicans who both see her a huge danger to the political status quo. Whether you like her or loathe her she has definite leadership qualities......and the political establishment are running scared.

I know that I'm only a cynical old UKer, but I still see the rejection of someone with Mrs Palin's potential as a chance missed.
Surely anyone who even contemplates voting for Mrs Clinton, who as far as I can see has a terrible record in FP and no vision at all for the future, must be willing to try to change the political mold.

If God Opens The Door, Sarah Palin Is Ready To Run Again

Posted: 11/17/2015

WASHINGTON -- Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) is keeping the door open to running for office again, saying she believes God doesn't want her to let her talents go to waste.

"I would [consider a run for office] because ... we know that we're equipped with passions, with interests, we're given those by our creator," Palin said Tuesday in an interview with conservative host Brian Kilmeade.

The 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee has been floating the idea of running for office again in recent days as she tries to sell more books. On CBS's "Sunday Morning," she said she would be "willing" to throw her hat in the ring, and in a "Good Morning America" interview on Tuesday, she said God would show her the way forward politically.

"Living my life, putting it in God's hands, you just never know what door may be opened," Palin said. "And if that door was opened, I'm built to run through it."

If anybody has a dictionary, open it at "liberal" and read it out to him, will they?

Scotland is run by a liberal party, SNP. New Labour was everything the liberal party itself wanted to be.

The USA? The more the likes of Trump and Palin are out forward as political possibilities, the more the world worries.

That said, Akenaton is oddly on the ball regarding a manufacturing country vs a non manufacturing country and capitalism. Just forgot to factor in that the money is stateless.
