I can't believe we are not discussing the water issues in Flint, 100,000 mostly poor people drinking lead tainted water for two years and the government sat on their ass

How can you even drink water at all if someone's sitting on your ass?

Sorry, I couldn't resist, but I did look at your issue. It's just another example of the poor not mattering. We're one of the richest countries in the world yet thousands of people have to go to food banks every day. Our supermarkets now have dumps where you can put your donated food. At the same time, Amazon, Google and Starbucks pay hardly any tax. That's what's up.

The families are told now not to even touch the water, the governor was told two years ago and they let the families to drink and bath in in for two years without a word

It's disgusting. I'd say more, but I don't have the words.

Flint has a lot of sick kids, also they have a Republican governor. I guess with a 40 percent poverty rate in Flint, they don't count and most are black.

But I bet the governor's got a good excuse, that it's not his fault and that nothing happens to him.

Just a guess you understand.

The difficulty with the question why we are not discussing this is that it seems there is nobody prepared to defend the governor's position. Perhaps, however the topic could be widened to include the Repuglitard threats to US environmental protection.

They are not 'Repuglitards', they are Republicans. Please use the correct term for these duplicitous bastards or they won't know to whom you refer. Just like Conservatives in the UK and Conservatives in Canada.

They worship at the 'altar of mammon' and they are quite proud of that. They eat the young of the poor wherever they are, and this is just one more example. They divide humans by race and set us against each other. They steal food from others and then momentarily glut their never-ending appetites on the remains of the dead.

Hell, this isn't just a few licks of the lead-based paint that baby cribs used to be painted with. This is water, a substance without which our bodies will collapse and die. It's one of the indispensibles for all humans. Does anyone here really think the people who knew about the lead contamination--likely four years ago--will do any time? Really?

Let's review Part 1.

Flint is Part 2983.

Bonaventure, those many years ago, wrote, "Exemplum de simia, quae, quando plus ascendit, plus apparent posteriora eius." The duplicitous bastards, Republican or Democrat, show their lack of care in the same way but only a few see it as they do their best to cover it.

Lots and lots of sick people, most of the worse are little kids. Now they say they won't change out the lead pipes because it cost to much. I guess there is a price for 100,000 people's lives

None of us has anything useful to say about Flint; the news media (for once) are stating it very well.

Of course there is a price on the lives of the poor -- but what is to be done? With its tax base devastated by job losses and the disappearance of property value -- who in his right mind would buy a house in Flint? -- where will the money come from to replace the city's water mains?

As a Canadian, I am quite ignorant of the fine points of the U.S. constitution. I believe -- correct me please, if I am wrong -- that, even if it wanted to, the federal government has no authority to intervene in a problem that is within the jurisdiction of a state or a municipality until a certain kind of emergency has been declared. If I recall correctly, that is what everyone is waiting for.

Flint was being supplied with water from the Detroit water system until March of 2014. That is 10 months ago.

Please explain how the chap in the governor's house could have known about this problem 4 years ago?

The root of this mess is Detroit's bankrupcy and takeover by the state of Michigan.

"The subpoenas seek records dating back to the beginning of 2011."

From

So we'll see what we see.

Liver failure, neurologic damage, sores, lung damage, and death await many of the victims in a tortuous slow motion tragedy .

This was not a failure of government, it was a failure of a Republican Governor who canceled local government and established a Bolshevik style emergency manager system . Snyder is red alright.
This the kind of damage dictators do.
