Subject: Songs for Paddy's Night From: GUEST,Rodge Date: 24 Feb 16 - 04:59 AM I have to do a set of about a dozen songs at a party for Paddy's. I don't have a great vocal range and I ain't Irish. Any ideas? |
Subject: RE: Songs for Paddy's Night From: Murpholly Date: 24 Feb 16 - 07:23 AM Definitly NOT Danny Boy. Depending on the party some of the chorus songs that everyone will join in:- Athenry; Black Velvet Band; Leaving of Liverpool; Gather up the pots; the Boys from Killibegs; Connemara Cradle Song; and then St. Patrick was a gentleman; the Rakes of Mallow; perhaps Roddy McCauley or Sean South; the Town I loved so well; Dicley Riley; Star of the County Down; Song for Ireland. These are all on our play list for the day. |
Subject: RE: Songs for Paddy's Night From: GUEST Date: 24 Feb 16 - 09:42 AM I second do NOT play Danny Boy, that's a funeral song. I would add... Finnegan's Wake, Jug of Punch, Cruiscin Lan, Wild Mountain Thyme, if you can pull it off in your vocal range, Four Green Fields, and though it isn't Scottish, the Queen of Argylle is always a hit. |
