Still can't help but feelin' like some sorry little clown
When the circus tent is empty and nobody is around
So I dream of sky and ocean and a little plot of ground
The sounds that spin upon the day
Only wanted to play

Your God-damn sorrow was bringin' me down
Your vision of tomorrow was too high above the ground
The mission from the meadow had been taken to the town
To scare all the children away
To scare the little children away

Couldn't stay there longer while you held yourself to blame
Didn't want to be the one who lost himself, insane again (pronounced a-gain)
But I knew that it would look like I had betrayed a friend
Only one tip to play
I was just feelin' that way

You know the same things happen anyway
No matter what the other people always say
Don't let them bring you down into their funny little game
You know all there ever was still remains the same

Still can't help but feelin' like some sorry little clown
I left you in the water and I knew that you could drown
Now my castles tumble down
Sorry I went that way that day
Only wanted to play

Still can't help but feelin' like some sorry little clown
When the circus tent is empty and nobody is around
So I dream of sky and ocean and a little plot of ground
The sounds that spin upon the day
Only wanted to play

The Tarot and the Banjo
(needs corrections)

I can't help but feeling
like some sorry little clown
when a circus tent is empty
and nobody is around
so I dream of sky and ocean
and a little plot of ground
the songs that coming singing on the day
cause I only wanted to play

your goddamn sorrow is bringing me down
and your vision of tomorrow
is too high above the ground
and the mission from the meadow
has been taken to the town
just to scare all the children away
scare the little children away

things just happen that way anyway
no matter what the other people always say
don't let them bring you down into their little games
you know all there ever was still remains the same

I can't help but feeling
like some sorry little clown
cause I left you in the water
when I knew that you could drown
and I ran away like lightning
when I heard the thunder sound
only wanted to play
cause I was just feeling that way - that day

didn't want to stay there while
you held yourself to blame
and I didn't want to be the one
to lose himself again insane
I knew that it would look like
I had betrayed a friend
I only wanted to play

I can't help but feeling
like some sorry little clown
when the circus tent is empty
and nobody is around
so I dream of sky and ocean
and a little plot of ground
and these songs that come singing on the day
I only wanted to play

Jason, if you get down what you can, there are a few here who will do their best to fill in the blanks.

I'd like to transcribe the lyrics but there's a couple of lines I can't figure out, like, "the mission from the meadow has been taken to the town" - ?? What's that?? Doesn't make any sense at all for me.

Clear lyrics there, but they will require transcription.

Do anybody have lyrics for this song by Bob Gibson? It's from Bob's Funky in the Country LP. The song goes like this:

I can't help but feeling like some sorry little clown
When the circus tent is empty and nobody is around
So I dream of sky and ocean and a little plot of ground.
The songs that spin upon the day
Only wanted to play.

The song itself doesn't mention tarot or banjo anywhere in the lyrics. Wonder why it's called The Tarot and the Banjo?
