I have seen this term a number of times in discussions on thesession.org. It appears to be a British thing, and I suppose it is some sort of putdown. As a US resident, I'm intrigued and would like to know more about it.

(Probably opening myself up to abuse...)

Never going to the session I can't say if it is used as a put down there but it was common when I was young and can still be bought though more people use twig tape these days . Spirit gum was used in both holding on a toupee and in the theatre to add facial hair.

All I found on the session with wig glue in the title were two threads. One seven years old and the other five years old. Perhaps you could post a link to a more modern thread.

Typing "wig glue" into the search box at the session.org brings up 8 threads, none of which provide any answers, just a sort of "nudge nudge, wink wink" kind of "insider" feel. I want to be an insider too!

Hahaha Sandra! Our churchwarden has a very long comb-over, and it often flies out behind him leaving his very bald head for all to see. He's also the organist, and sometimes he looks quite mad sitting playing with feet and hands, his hair sticking up just like your 'cocky's comb'.
I love Cockney rhyming slang, and it took me a while to figure out 'syrup'. It's short for 'syrup of fig' ie 'wig'.

These threads are 7,5,6,5,5,5.4 and 6 years old respectivly. With possibly one exception they are all contributions by one David Cameron Dudley.

It might be a very private joke, and then, bearing in mind that glue sniffing is a disreputable method of getting intoxicated, maybe wig glue contains or contained solvents that can be intoxicating.

Why anyone would want to make veiled allusions to intoxication in sessions is beyond me.

In sum, it's one man and his rather old and obscure attempt at humour. Not something to worry about.
