Subject: BS: The Real FarceBook Noise Generator. From: Greg F. Date: 25 Aug 16 - 09:18 AM Yesirree, social media gonna save the world. Why get real news when you can read Tweet-twats instead. "Such news exists primarily within users' feeds, its authorship obscured, its provenance unclear, its veracity questionable. It exists so far outside the normal channels of news production and distribution that its claims will go unchallenged." Complete Article Here |

Subject: RE: BS: The Real FarceBook Noise Generator. From: Donuel Date: 25 Aug 16 - 10:28 AM Greg you should have added ; Please Like! This is a subject I hold dear, born from the death of respected print journalism and newspapers. Not only has Isis become more internet savvy and slick but so has Americas white power eugenics racist fascists who prefer to be called Alt Right is all right. Facebook has stunted the evolution of social media's respect for truth and community. Social media is too much a free market. It is a matter of maturity vs. profit. Think for a moment how much Trump Tweets sound like your average troll 10 years ago when the internet was a constant flame war. He is all about profit and exploitation. Flame wars are now nationalistic with billionaire budgets. Of course look at the 24-7 cable news shouting wars being rated good TV. You won't find very many Rachel Maddows there who does novel and in depth research. The hard won respect of print journalism is not reflected in the way facebook supports a divided notion of truth, on for red and one for blue. PS If I can read the article you can. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Real FarceBook Noise Generator. From: Donuel Date: 25 Aug 16 - 01:18 PM Born from the death...of newspapers This is not to impune the bravery, wisdom and integrity of the individual journalist. The respect is lost among the masses who are hypnotized by on line hype. The issues that Facebook needs to face are coming to light so there is hope that they wake up with a respondsibiity beyond self interest and profit. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Real FarceBook Noise Generator. From: Donuel Date: 25 Aug 16 - 01:57 PM I just took the NYT survey. It is exhaustive. I am exhausted. Media evolution is time sensitive in the very long run. 100,000 years ago we had words, writing is relatively recent, digital is now. Electro transference or THX 1138 methods of communication could be next. |
