Subject: RE: young uk folk performers From: Reinhard Date: 08 Jan 17 - 09:22 AM Young is relative ... Rob Harbron is am amazing concertina player but he has been recording for at least 20 years (The anthology Evolving Tradition 2 is from 1996). And when Ollie King and Matt Quinn are mentioned we shouldn't forget their musical partner, singer Rosie Hood. She has just released her first solo album The Beautiful & the Actual which has rarely left my CD player in the last weeks. |

Subject: RE: young uk folk performers From: GUEST,FloraG Date: 09 Jan 17 - 03:12 AM I think I've found where all the youngsters are. Went to a Cohen tribute night in a pub in Deal ( Kent GB) - not sure what to expect - and found a well organised multi performer act-mostly from people under 40. One was good - and the next one better- and the next, and each good in their own way. Must have been at least 10 plus a drummer who complimented the singing rather than drown it out, and a pub piano that was just about in tune. The pub was full. I've come across a few of them before - in some way linked to Pirate Records, but I'm not sure how. It was all first name terms - so I can't quote names. Hope for the future. FloraG. |
