Sam Mabbett and his friend Dylan Cairns-Howarth (& Sam as "Infinite Cherries"). First saw them at Towersey Festival . They were 11 & 12 and were more than good enough then to dance to. Now at an academy studying traditional music.

I think I've found where all the youngsters are. Went to a Cohen tribute night in a pub in Deal ( Kent GB) - not sure what to expect - and found a well organised multi performer act-mostly from people under 40. One was good - and the next one better- and the next, and each good in their own way. Must have been at least 10 plus a drummer who complimented the singing rather than drown it out, and a pub piano that was just about in tune. The pub was full.
I've come across a few of them before - in some way linked to Pirate Records, but I'm not sure how.
It was all first name terms - so I can't quote names. Hope for the future.
FloraG.

Claire Hastings - who followed Robyn (with a y) Stapleton as Scots Young Trad Musician of the year. And a a big aye-aye to Iona Fyfe, Natalie Chalmers and other great singers from teh NE of Scotland. We are blessed with so many good young musicians up here in Scotland, tho some are now pushing 30! Siobhan Miller, Jeana Leslie, Anna Massie, Jenn Butterworth, Laura McColl, Jenna and Bethany Reid, Maireread Green
Let's then add all the various members of Breabach, Rura, Paul McKenna Band, adn any else I've missed..
We are just so extraordinarily lucky to have all these wonderful young musicians in Scotland (most of whom were actually of the female variety perchance!)

Including people in their mid 30s such as Jim Causley is really showing up the Mudcat demographic.

Agree re Granny's Attic. That Cohen lad is something else! Great musician, wonderful voice and seems to know what he's doing.

Robin Stapleton, and Iona Fyfe, two very good young singers, both on YouTube, and well worth a look.

Just heard Granny's Attic for the first time at Haddenham last night and thought they are great singers and musicians. Also, thanks to Kadia,(who are also great singers and musicians) I got to hear Meon Rose in Bournemouth on Wednesday, and hope to hear them again soon!

Young is relative ... Rob Harbron is am amazing concertina player but he has been recording for at least 20 years (The anthology Evolving Tradition 2 is from 1996).

And when Ollie King and Matt Quinn are mentioned we shouldn't forget their musical partner, singer Rosie Hood. She has just released her first solo album The Beautiful & the Actual which has rarely left my CD player in the last weeks.
