Subject: The Volunteer Sessions, Sidmouth From: GUEST,George Frampton Date: 27 Jun 17 - 11:20 AM Contrary to rumour, the Volunteer Inn is open and ready for business during Sidmouth FolkWeek. There was some concern following its temporary closure related to the late landlord Steve Lea's estate. Punch Taverns have now installed a new landlord Ron Miles, who was formerly landlord at the Balfour Inn and is known to be music-friendly. I am grateful to Barry Lister and Roger Grimes who have each checked the situation and have reported back. Alan Bearman is aware of the situation. I am pleased to say that the highly successful series of 'In the Tradition' lunchtime sessions with its unique format inc singers invited from the formal programme will continue as before, much as it has done so since 1988. This is not a singaround, and anyone wishing to perform should introduce themselves to myself or my co-host at the start of proceedings as it is difficult (if impossible) to fit everyone in before the 2.30 p.m. finish. I look forward to meeting once again all our regulars and, perhaps, anyone who wishes to give it a try. |

Subject: RE: The Volunteer Sessions, Sidmouth From: JHW Date: 28 Jun 17 - 06:05 AM Always a good atmosphere but I did like the diversity of the Guest MC idea which ran for a while as each of those guest MCs had their own 'known singers'. I welcome then George's invitation 'anyone wishing to perform should introduce themselves' Won't make it this year, Ulverston and Saltburn. |

Subject: RE: The Volunteer Sessions, Sidmouth From: Mr Red Date: 28 Jun 17 - 06:28 AM Roger Grimes was in Sidmouth recently and he reports that the incumbent landpersons are looking forward to the Festival and the singers. Business as usual I think. |
