Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: robomatic Date: 21 Jul 17 - 08:16 PM One great thing about GOT was the level of bad guys: At the end of last season I was concerned with the amount of house cleaning going on. This the season opener of Season 7 I found quite satisfying from beginning to end. One of the elements I quite like is the quality of the dragons. They are made physically more believable by the wings being their forelegs - like bats. Not the ridiculous back appendages applied to Chinese dragons and Pegasus horses. I've read all the books but that was years ago. George R.R. Martin is running way behind with the texts. I'm wondering if he will abandon them since the show plot has significantly departed his written series. I haven't seen any recent photos to assess his health, either. |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: michaelr Date: 21 Jul 17 - 07:25 PM pfr - You are right, the level of gratuitous nudity is in sad decline on GOT. Must be because winter is here... |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: Dave the Gnome Date: 21 Jul 17 - 05:25 AM OK. Whinge was the wrong word as you have only done it once. Complain would have been more accurate so I shall apologise and rephrase the question. Have you just come here to complain? If so, feel free. If you have come for an argument though please try elsewhere. BTW - I did not indulge in sarky comments. I merely express an opinion which I am entitled to do :-) DtG |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: banjoman Date: 20 Jul 17 - 06:46 AM DG I have never whinged on here. I merely express an opinion which I am entitled to do. So keep the sarky comments to yourself |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: Dave the Gnome Date: 19 Jul 17 - 05:15 PM ...or get Kodi and a good VPN but I didn't say that.;-) DtG |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: Dave the Gnome Date: 19 Jul 17 - 09:39 AM It is on pay channels, Jon. If you fancy it, best value is NOW TV. You can buy a box from Argos for £14.99 which includes a 3 month Sky entertainment including Atlantic which GoT is on. This series is, I think, on for about 7 or 8 weeks. Cheers DtG |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: Jon Freeman Date: 19 Jul 17 - 08:58 AM Think GOT is on pay to view, maybe even Sky? Each to their own but not something we will go for. Maybe I miss out, I don't know but my own and general household tv watching seems to diminish - but I'd still like to see a test match again.. I think best Carry On film for me had a different cast. Fenella Fielding and Harry H Corbett in it |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: Donuel Date: 19 Jul 17 - 08:55 AM The plot and storyline is becoming more Stark. |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: punkfolkrocker Date: 19 Jul 17 - 08:36 AM Is it my imagination, or is the level of gratuitous nudity decreasing since the first couple of series... Teenage boys don't know when they are lucky.. in my day all we had was Barbara Windsor in the Carry On films... |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: Dave the Gnome Date: 19 Jul 17 - 08:31 AM GOT - the biggest load of ***** since Maggie Thatcher was elected. Only in your opinion, banjoman. Have you just come here for a whinge? If so, feel free. If you have come for an argument though please try elsewhere :-) DtG |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: banjoman Date: 19 Jul 17 - 06:50 AM GOT - the biggest load of ***** since Maggie Thatcher was elected. Unfortunately I have to suffer it as my family are addicts. I had to watch Ripper Street in my bedroom because they had commandeered the TV. Thankfully its the last series of GOT but I understand its being shown in two series. YUK!!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: Dave the Gnome Date: 19 Jul 17 - 02:53 AM Dunno if I should say in case of spoiling it for anyone but the Meister doing the autopsy was one of my favourite actors. I thought Sheeran did fine - It worked for me anyway. DtG |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: michaelr Date: 18 Jul 17 - 08:28 PM DtG - I'm guessing you refer to Ed Sheeran mugging straight into the camera. Talk about tearing down the fourth wall; that was an appalling misstep by the showrunners. Who was the other one? |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: Dave the Gnome Date: 18 Jul 17 - 04:06 PM I understand he still has a big say in the televised story line so I guess it will not be too far away from his original intentions. But I have been known to be wrong. Occasionally ;-) No spoiler to let you know that you will enjoy Sam Tarly's role at the citadel, PFR :-) DtG |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: keberoxu Date: 18 Jul 17 - 03:52 PM My feelings towards George R. R. Martin aka "GRRM" are mixed. Reading the existing books was highly entertaining, even when there were things in the books that displeased me. Watching broadcast of that first episode, in which poor Bran is lamed for life, was riveting. Now GRRM is in a really odd position. He got so preoccupied with whatever-one-does-when-one's-successful-book-series-gets-filmed-and-broadcast-with-great-acclaim, that he slowed-down/stopped with writing -- and the filmed adaptations got ahead of him. Now the filmed adaptations are roughly one series-book-installment ahead of GRRM, and the viewers of the broadcast are seeing plot developments that have yet to be published in book form. Last I heard GRRM said he was still writing for publication, eventually. Slowly. I kind of feel like GRRM let us down by letting the story get away from him. |
Subject: RE: BS: Game of Thrones From: punkfolkrocker Date: 18 Jul 17 - 03:30 PM we like recording the entire series and having a blow out box set session next time the wife has a week off work.. So avoiding spoilers is a real bugger... |

Subject: BS: Game of Thrones From: Dave the Gnome Date: 18 Jul 17 - 03:28 PM Well, I started the Doctor Who thread. May as well be known for being a scifi/fantasy nut. Anyone seen the new GoT yet? I watched it last night. Very impressive opening scene. No spoilers. Stage is set for a Jon and Danaerys get together. Not sure about Cersei and Euron Greyjoy in his new 60's heavy metal regalia and don't know how they will fit in. Any more for any more? Dave Gnomeborn first of his name... |
