I know that this year's headline act at Towersey was paid more than all the ceilidh bands put together. And that was the case last year when Billy Bragg hectored his audience - telling them how to vote.
According to sources, attendees to his concert, the reaction from the audience was not approving. They, like me - I am sure, were objecting to his lecturing, not his right to hold an opinion. His right to hold a tune is not in question ................ much.

How much was he paid to harrange his audience? More than all the bands I danced to and I dance to them all.

Arrogance is not the preserve of the Tories. Not if you can see clearly. "Having favourites" blinkers you. It's called the Halo Effect.

Don't forget the B*P seized upon folk music as a medium for promoting it's politics..... Traditional British Volksmusik...

Wasn't a tory minister a folk singer? I can't recall his name right now. Michael something...

Also, Frank Turner is an old Etonian Tory and is a bloody good musician with distinctly folky leanings. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

interesting.

many roots singers in England and America are from agricultural communities, which are traditionally politically conservative. The Lincolnshire of my childhood always returned a conservative MP.

I seem to remember in AG Streets memoir, the landowner provided two carts festooned with party colours so that workers could choose which cart they got on, on voting day.

The South West of England - prior to Brexit at least, had a tradition of Liberal MP's. The party Aneurin Bevin called 'tories without their kicking boots on'.

What I'm saying is that although folk music is the music of the poor bloody infantry - not all the views expressed in folksongs are left leaning. The right have has much an interest in preserving our culture as the left.

Hi Joe or some other mud elf, any chance this can go below the line. The content here seems like more of the same mindless shite that cost us the contribution of Senoufou and similar contributors in the past. Its certainly got nothing to do with appreciation or learning about folk music!

Cheers,

Andrez

David Cameron, with his wife Samantha, attended the Wilderness Festival near his Oxfordshire home this weekend.

"Build bridges not walls" sounds like a good thing to me given the legacies of Thatcher, Blair, Bush and Trump among others of similar ilk. Wish I could have heard the whole speech.

Cheers,

Andrez

Norman Tebbit might appear on the main stage (dining table) in his Punk Rocker outfit and shot out to his adoring fans *F CK THE POOR*, the huge crowd would applaud and sing his name *Normal Norman* Normal Norman*, over and over and over again.

The Ian Duncan Smith and Daniel Hanan in their skin head gear shou out *F CK THE DISSABLED, TAKE THEIR WHEELCHAIRS AND ZIMMER FRAMES AWAY*, The huge crowd cheer and dace with joy.

Threaser May steps out dressed in her best black bin liner, you look stunning says Boring Boris as he swings by on with his siily hat on.

Then they all start singing the new Bloodsports Olympics anthem, that Fox Hunting Favourite *Dido Bendigo Gentry he was there oh, Traveller - he never looked behind him. There was countes, Rover, Bonny Lass and Jova, These were the hounds that could find him. (the little Fox that they ripped to death as the vast crowd at Tory Glastonbury cheered on in a mass multi orgasm).

From the link:
"A project team of more than 20 people, including 10 MPs, is working on Mr Freeman's event, which will be invitation-only with between 150 and 200 attendees, some of whom will camp."

Invitation only? Around 200 attending? A bit closer to an office team building exercise than Glastonbury, methinks.
