Hey guys
Man Of My Own - sung by the late great Jo Ann Kelly - is the first track in the How To Play Blues Guitar #2 album by Stefan Grossman.
I could grab only part of the lyrics.
This below is what I got.
Any chance to have you guys complete the missing parts? I can email the song if needed.
Thanks in advance.

MAN OF MY OWN

I went down 18th street, ........................
asking all the women where was my man ........
I'm leaving you baby   (x3)
tryin' to find the man of my own.

Gonna grab me a train, drive it 'till it .............,
................
I'm leaving you baby   (x3)
tryin' to find the man of my own.

I woke up this morning   at the break of day
looked on the ...... where she used to lay
I'm leaving you baby   (x3)
tryin' to find the man of my own.

My suitcase is packed,   truck already home
and it won't be long    till your mama be gone
I'm leaving you baby   (x3)
tryin' to find the man of my own.

You caused my heart to weep, caused me to moan
.....................................   the train I'm on
I'm leaving you baby   (x3)
tryin' to find the man of my own.

Thank you Frank. That must be a very interesting book indeed.
Unfortunately - at least in the partially hidden google books version - the only song somewhat close to 'Man Of My Own' is 'Leavin' This Morning', which contains only one stanza in common with 'Man Of My Own'.
Thanks anyway.
Carlo

Subject: Lyr Add: A MAN OF MY OWN (Ruth Willis)
From: Jim Dixon

I found this recording on Spotify. It's on the album "Rough Guide to Blues Women" (2016) but the recording is much older.

A MAN OF MY OWN
As recorded by Ruth Willis, 1933.

1. I went down 18th Street, didn't have-a no hat,
Asking all the women where was my man at.

CHORUS: I'm leavin' you, baby, (x3)
Tryin' to find a man of my own.

2. I'm gonna grab me a train, ride it 'till it stops.
Not gonna stay 'round here an' be your stumblin' block.
CHORUS

3. Woke up this mornin' at the break of day,
Looked on my pillow where my man used to lay. So—CHORUS

4. My suitcase is packed, trunk already home,
So it won't be long 'fore your mama be gone. So—CHORUS

5. You caused my heart to weep; you caused it to moan.
So what's this mean ol' train I'm on? So—CHORUS

Thanks a lot to Jim Dixon for the lyrics and to Janie for the youtube link.
Sorry for being so late, I didn't get any email notification about your postings. I've read both of them only now.
