What astounds me is the amount of attention being payed to the tragedies in the western hemisphere while similar or far worse ones are taking place elsewhere
"All God's Chillun" and all that.
I can't say I'm really puzzled that the subject and global warming have played little, if any part in these discussions, given the west's pechant for personal comfort and profit

The poor and hardest hit by Irma from the Virgin Islands and elsewhere have evacuated to Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico has issued the command to evacuate or die from Maria.
This will be a tragic West Side Story.

BVI must have the largest wealth per capita of any country on earth, thanks to its status as a tax haven.

Really effective post-disaster aid would be to hand out machine guns and demolition tools to anybody who wanted to loot a bank.

Such banks be they in the Caribbean or Europe do not have Vaults although some have safe deposit boxes. They are electronic data centers or even just a virtual address.

Gold vaults are in Europe and recently Singapore.
