Subject: BS: last of the royal-bred corgis From: keberoxu Date: 18 Apr 18 - 02:35 PM Is there a song challenge in this one, i wonder. Her Majesty still has two "dorgis" and a corgi adopted from a deceased gamekeeper at one of HM's stately homes. |
Subject: RE: BS: last of the royal-bred corgis From: punkfolkrocker Date: 18 Apr 18 - 02:42 PM When I was a kid my nan's old corgi was a nasty frightening growling bitch who I couldn't go anywhere near until I was about 10 and she was 11. A sudden remarkable change occured when I introduced her to my new puppy and she completely melted. Literally in one afternoon, she was out playing with my pup with a new found livelyness I had never seen. Within days I was stroking, picking her up, and taking her for walks with my puppy... So apparently you can teach old dogs new tricks...!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: last of the royal-bred corgis From: Mrrzy Date: 19 Apr 18 - 10:23 AM I heard this on BBC this morning, how do you run out of dogs? Last generation only had boy or girl pups? Last of the line, they said. Still, sad when someone's beloved old dog dies. |
Subject: RE: BS: last of the royal-bred corgis From: Nigel Parsons Date: 19 Apr 18 - 10:30 AM According to today's Telegraph it was a decision by the Queen: Quite understandably, three years ago it was reported that the Queen had stopped breeding because she doesn’t wish to leave any corgis behind when she dies. |

Subject: RE: BS: last of the royal-bred corgis From: Dave the Gnome Date: 19 Apr 18 - 10:43 AM three years ago it was reported that the Queen had stopped breeding I think I will just leave that one out of context with no comment :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: last of the royal-bred corgis From: Stilly River Sage Date: 19 Apr 18 - 10:49 AM So adopt a rescue dog if you want a dog around the house. I'm willing to bet that if the queen's pet outlives her there is someone in the world who will be willing to give the dog a good home after she's gone. |

A top class fancy Korean Restaurant...??? Imagine the price they could charge wealthy BonVivants per tiny bowl...!!!??? |
Subject: RE: BS: last of the royal-bred corgis From: Joe Offer Date: 19 Apr 18 - 05:46 PM We Americans are inclined to have a favorable opinion of the Queen [After all, she's far preferable to our current Chief of State]. I'm supposing that if the Queen had continued breeding (?), the corgis remaining after her death could be in danger of becoming very valuable stud properties at some puppy mill. -Joe- https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/apr/18/the-queens-corgis-are-dead-long-live-the-dorgis |

Subject: RE: BS: last of the royal-bred corgis From: leeneia Date: 20 Apr 18 - 10:01 AM 1)I understand that like other long, low dogs, corgis are subject to spine trouble. 2) I have a friend who owned a corgi, and the dog showed a dangerous tendency to get under the fence and take off, apparently looking for some cows to herd. One day she got hit by a car - not fatally. If nobody in the Family wants to deal with corgis, then I feel the queen is wise and humane to stop breeding them. She's setting a good example for us all. |
Subject: RE: BS: last of the royal-bred corgis From: Mrrzy Date: 20 Apr 18 - 10:09 AM Dave the Gnome, yeah! About time! But if it was her decision, it isn't sad any more. |

Subject: RE: BS: last of the royal-bred corgis From: Steve Shaw Date: 20 Apr 18 - 01:12 PM I would never put my hand up an older bloke, whether or not he had Corgi cars in the loft. C'mon, it's Friday! |
