Just wondering if anyone else has had experience reporting hate speech on youtube - here's why: every once in while I report it, but I never check back; however, sometimes I will find myself a year or two or more later back at the same video, and reading a comment that I remember, and suspecting that I reported it - but not certain.

I'm not interested in getting into a freedom of speech vs. hate speech debate - but of course I can't stop others from it ... ! I'm just wondering whether I'm wasting my time reporting the vile stuff.

I have done the same - there are some truly vile and hateful comments on there - but I have never received a message from YT following my reporting. Sorry not to be of more help - I just want you to know there's a likeminded Mudcatter.

Well, that's good to know, anyway! But I'm starting to suspect that youtube does nothing about the reports - it just provides the 'service' to make it appear that they care .....

I wonder if it makes a difference whether the "flag" is used or "file abuse report" ?

I've only 'flagged' - never filed an 'abuse report'.
