It's eerie when you have reverb, etc at hand but you're not seeing an amp or a cable. Yamaha guitars are always well-built, and the TA is no exception.

I would be wary of the battery-driven digital doohickey failing at some point, but I generally don't rely on effects in performance anyway.

I love my yamahas, but my main axe is a fender paramount these days.

Nothing I'm likely to do in a folk club with chorus and delay added, or not, seems to cut it in folk clubs.

I've been using my Yamaha for years. I've binned off some pretty expensive guitars to return to it.
It's the best I've found over the last 40 years. It's an FG365se. The very first to have electrics added in 1983. Yam. Rosewood laminates are that good they are better than some other solid back and sides.
The rosewood gives the bass a punch which I love.
The ARE system used in modern Yammys gives a similar sound but the price is prohibitive, try them out though. Look upon a Yamaha as raw material when you get it. Set it up change the nut, bridge and add brass bridge pins, put a set of Schallers or Grovers on if necessary and enjoy. Here endeth the lesson.

In truth - they've done some decent guitars over the years. I'm not a big fan of the later model's transducer systems. too bleeding clever by half.

The transacoustic model is of interest to folk players. It has something called an actuator fitted.

What this means is that in effect you will be able to go to all these mouldy fig folk clubs , where they look askance at amps , footpedals, PA systems. Take out a an acoustic guitar (okay probably lost some of them at that point) and enhance your guitar sound with chorus and delay without any other equipment.

The current issue of acoustic says they're basically a three hundred quid yam , with the other three hundred going on this actuator thing.

I haven't seen one, much less tried one. I wondered if anyone had.

There are videos of guys playing this guitar on YouTube. It looks like a traditional guitar, but it has three small dials set into the top which you can turn up or down for reverb and a couple other things.

I listened to two of the videos, and I think it sounds muddy and fake. For an effect like that, I would prefer a twelve-string. Maybe to guys who've grown up with rock, music is supposed to sound like that.

I guess it uses batteries.

I would prefer one that you power by pedaling. Play music and get cardio benefit at the same time.

I played one briefly at the Musikmesse trade show in Frankfurt this year. The chorus effect is absolutely horrible. The reverb is a lot better, though it probably isn't the reverb I'd choose if I were recording or mixing an acoustic guitar personally.
