Not that long ago I saw a white van bristling with lidar & cameras (X4) approach my house. I live at the end of a cul-de-sac. Then yesterday I spotted a blue car with some trivet on the roof. It turned into the entrance of the carpark to the doctors. So out came the camera and I took a picture of it taking a picture of me.
Both on this collection of photos. or - Goggle car (my pic) & App-hell (not my actual pic - it took too long to diagnose and reach for the camera)
Google are much more obvious about it (this time).

The last time I saw the Goggle-o-mobile it was anonymous but I pointed at it and - guess what - I did not appear on Goggle Earth. I wonder - will my camera show up this time?

I've seen and photographed Google cars at least twice, generally in parked driver-getting-something-to-eat mode. It is a trade-off; opening up Google maps or Google Earth and being able to assess the area you're headed, know what the address itself looks like is a generally very useful thing.

Those Android phones so many of us carry track our travel and speed, and when we're in a crawl on the freeway or simply waiting for a traffic light, a streak of red appears on that street on Google maps in the driving mode.

The phone company probably also gets a cut of the action. As long as I'm anonymized, I don't care, but the phone company seems more likely to abuse the information than Google, just because the phone company has been around a lot longer and has always been considered suspect in some things. (Anyone else enjoy The President's Analyst?)

Mr. Red, the technique Russia uses is not beyond your understanding.

You can compromise famous people, politicians, organizations in a very simple process to humilliate, elevate or achieve what ever your goal is.
