Just mentioned these on another thread and thought they were worth a thread of their own. British Country seems to have taken off in a big way. These youngsters are rocking them in the aisles in Nashville and Memphis as well as at home. Very talented and at 24 years old, a long way to go yet!

You Tube track - Guilty Flowers

Enjoy :-)

Dave,

Are you suggesting that this is Country Music and not aimed at the pop market? They appear to be good at what they are doing but rocking them in in the aisles of Nashville and Memphis while showing an acoustic guitar doesn't make it country or folk for that matter.

This is Country Music redefined (by Nashville, I suppose) but it doesn't bear much relation to what I think of as Country Music. If people derive some joy from it that's a good thing, it's just not my cup of tea.

No, Hootenanny, I do not know the genre well enough but I do like it. In the interview they commented that they were led down the Country route by Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn but were then totally bowled over by the Dixie Chicks. Purely out of interest.

I really do not wish to start a similar discussion to 'what is folk' about Country. I just enjoyed their stuff and am now listening to their entire output on Spotify :-)

Dave,

I quite understand you not wanting to start a 'what is country' discussion. Very wise, it could easily develop into a mud slinging contest similar to a couple of large "discussions" currently going on in this forum.

Thanks, Hootenanny. That was my reasoning :-) I just enjoyed their music, regardless of its label!

Not yet... I'm listening 1960s freakbeat group The Creation at the moment...

But there's a scandinavian group of sisters "First Aid"...
you might like..
They played Glasto on BBC telly over the last few years...

[cant be arsed making clickies right now...]

Thanks PFR. Having a listen and am very impressed so far. Full name for others looking them up is 'First Aid Kit' and they have lots of stuff on Spotify. Added to my listen to list. This is what the Mudcat is best at :-)
