There are other relevant articles in the link.

I wonder who guards the rights of "political" prisoners? This catchall label covers anyone the state may take a dislike to.

I should have added that over a period of about a year, I attended many, many hearings/trials at Norwich Magistrates Court and Norwich Crown Court.

It was most interesting to follow proceedings and learn something about the legal process.
I also attended sentencing, and never once heard the words 'solitary confinement' uttered by the presiding judge/magistrate.

But of course I have never attended a terrorism or political type of trial, or anything serious such as murder.
Mostly burglaries, GBH, ABH, drug-related offences and so on.

My point was that in so far as the original article claimed a 'sentence' had been given by a court which UK courts cannot and do not give, this seemed to undermine the credibility of the article.

As has been pointed out, people do sometimes end up in form of 'solitary' but it is not an actual sentence awarded after a trial.

Thanks for backing this Senoufou.

Why does Her Majesty need all those prisons? Isn't the Tower of London enough any more?

There is no such thing as being 'sentenced to two years' solitary confinement'

It's remand prisoners who are more likely to end up in solitary than those who have been convicted and sentenced. Particularly victims of the border control cops and the "anti-terrorism" industry.

Interesting Iains, thank you for those links.
My prison visiting experiences were thirty years ago, and of course I'm a bit out of date with my information.

In my day, if a prisoner was still recalcitrant after a period 'down the Seg' he was moved to another prison and put on a wing there.
This is why I visited in several prisons to keep in touch with individuals who were always being shipped out in a 'sweat box' (prison van) to some other place.

I visited in:-

HMP Wayland
HMP Norwich
HMP Blundeston
HMP Highpoint
HMP The Mount
HMP Wormwood Scrubs
HMP Hollesley Bay
HMP Parkhurst

There is no such thing as being 'sentenced to two years' solitary confinement'. Prisoners may be kept in the segregation unit for a maximum of two weeks. After that, they have to be reinstalled on a wing.

Solitary confinement isn't part of a sentence, but used to segregate a troublesome inmate for a short time to defuse certain situations.
There are strict rules about segregation. Daily visits by the Governor and the Chaplain and air and exercise for an hour each day.

I know nothing however about prisons for the criminally insane (eg Broadmoor) where isolation may or may not be advised.

Some alt-fact stuff here but, as is usual with these things, it's difficult to know where lies truth in the sea of propaganda.

Would also be interesting to know the source of the idea that 'solitary confinement' is used as a sentence for those found guilty in UK courts.

Acorn4 - spend enough time 'researching' far right web sites
and you'll come away even more confused with all the apparent contradictions...

I'm slightly bemused by the Tommy Robinson references - this refers to Margaret Thatchers conservative cabinet. The right wing are actually the accused in all this?

It isn't just the establishment that comes down hard on psychotic arsonists.

She might well be treatable with suitable chemicals but her fascist "friends" aren't going to let that happen.

One source of information.
http://www.holliegreigjustice.uk/hgj/?p=6438

My only comments would be that:

Saville hid in a sea of publicity for decades.

The establishment comes down very hard on dissenters that gather too big a following.

Draw your own conclusions!

I just nipped out to the post office
and saw a photocopy A4 poster taped prominently to a main street tree,
outing and warning of a 'paedo' who lives a few streets away...

Photo, name, adrress, phone no...

The far right is exploiting ordinary folk's fear for children
as mercylessly as possible for their own ends...

The bloke in the poster better think about what happened
to an entirely innocent immigrant not too far away in Bristol,
who was brutally murdered because he looked a bit weird,
so was obviously a kiddy fiddler...

Perhaps correct to treat this with a pinch of salt - I was posting rather in the vein of "if there is any truth in this we ought to be alarmed".

This "John Walker" posted a message promoting a rally for Nigel Farage ten minutes ago and a Ban the Burka march yesterday. He's an ultra-rightist.

You're not missing anything, Steve. It does seem to be yet another conspiracy theory attracting the usual nutters. I only got as far as Tommy robinson and his fans should use this to prove they are thinking of the children and not just being racist, and have another march in london in the messages of support before I gave up.

Shame if the lass has been given a rough deal but, somehow, I doubt the 'facts' are as stated.

We non-Facebook users are excluded. There's too much of that going on. I knew a John Walker when I was teaching in London, a very radical leftie working in Hackney. Wonder whether it's him.

I'm not sure what are the facts behind this story but if it's true a worrying development:-
