Kathy Mattea hasn't had a new CD out in 6 years. She found she just couldn't sing the songs she used to sing. She went to a vocal therapist, and found that her voice had changed and she needed to adjust to her new voice. On Sept 7, 2018, she and her new voice released a new album. The title song is the Hazel Dickens classic, "Pretty Bird."

The new CD sounds very promising. I loved Kathy Mattea's old voice - but I think I'm going to like her new one, too.

I lost my high, clear soprano to years of songlead in in lower keys so the songs would be more comfortable for the majority of the congregation. I got a new voice too, so I especially enjoyed that interview this afternoon. She's always been a favorite and I was so glad to hear her.

I also SO related to her story of finally knowing how to sing the much-loved Dickens song. I've had that sort of thing take years too-- except for that one Kathy Mattea song I still can't sing! ;-)

Joe - Thnx for the heads-up, I am going to order this CD. KM has helped many other musicians over the years, Tim OBrien for example. It's great to see she is continuing her career and contributing to music.
